John Candy: I Like Me Ratings & Reviews
- Splitvision89February 13, 2026One of the best documentaries I have ever watched. Unfortunately John passed away before my obsession with comedy and movies began, but it was a highlight of my childhood getting to his movies with my dad.
- Shaun McMillanOctober 10, 2025An incredible documentary about a great person
- UsablePainFebruary 7, 2026Amazing guy. What else is there to say!
- KenFebruary 5, 2026Wonderful tribute to the funniest and surprisingly best actors of my lifetime!
- Mr SmifflixJanuary 9, 2026Nostalgic look back at my teen years where John Candy was the GOAT. What an amazing reflection of a beautiful human being.
- Rob StrotmanOctober 15, 2025After 30+ years, I did not realize how much I missed John until I watched this and I was surprised by how often I teared up during the documentary-especially when you see how often interviewers passive aggressively questioned his weight or brought up "bad" movies. Absolutely unconscionable behavior. But John did more in his short life than most do in 100 years. He was one-of-a-kind and sorely missed...This is a great doc.
- Andrew BaxOctober 11, 2025Highly recommend. If you are a John Candy fan, this is a must watch. One of the best comedians of the time who died far too soon.
- arnoldo20021612October 13, 2025Lovely moving tribute to the great John Candy. I have never heard a bad word said about him at all which is rare these days. All in all a genuine great guy. Well crafted documentary by Colin Hanks. Recommended
- FingersHouseJanuary 6, 2026A warm, honest tribute to a one-of-a-kind talent—funny, heartfelt, and a reminder of just how much John Candy is missed and how far too soon he was gone.
- vipor9576October 30, 2025Love it , great tribute 👍👍
- vangh1December 29, 2025This feels like a warm-hearted look into the life and career of a truly unique artist. There's undoubtedly something about Candy, you just can't help but want to smile and laugh the second he comes on screen. You get to see a little bit behind the curtain, some of things that fueled him and some of the things that lurked in the corners of his mind, but mostly it keeps to the main road and plays on pleasant nostalgia. It was really nice to see how hard he tried to remain a present husband and father through the growth of his career, which makes it all the more heartbreaking that he was at work at the end of his life. I definitely won't be able to hear his name now without thinking of him as Johnny Toronto. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles will always be one of my all time greatest, in no small part due to this man.
- MlbKiwiDecember 2, 2025John Candy explained and celebrated. Wonderful job done with this.
- Nery RomeroNovember 24, 2025Although it sadly doesn't talk about one of my favourite films Cool Runnings it's very easy to push that aside and focus on the story and tales of one of, if not, the nicest man to grace the film and comedy industry. It breaks your heart, makes you smile, cracks you up and then leaves you in tears. John Candy, along with Gene Wilder and Michael J. Fox, is my favourite actor and this was simply beautiful to watch.
- staffm8November 11, 2025Absolutely loved bringing back so many memories! Have a box of tissues handy!
- EinieOctober 16, 2025What a guy 🙂
