貧しい農民の青年ジャックは、馬を売った代わりに奇妙な豆を手にする。その矢先、冒険を夢見て城を抜け出した王女イザベルが嵐に見舞われ、ジャックの粗末な家へ雨宿りにやって来た。そのとき、雨に濡れた豆の一粒が芽を出し、家ごと天空へつるを伸ばし始める。地面に取り残されたジャックは、翌日騎士エルモント率いるイザベル姫の捜索隊に志願、豆の木を登る。やがて一行の前に、伝説の巨人たちが住む天空の国が姿を現わす。
