Jack and Jill Ratings & Reviews
- 匚卂尺ㄥMarch 18, 2025I know that this has had a load of poor reviews and a load of awards for supposedly being the worst film ever but to be honest it is so so so funny.... I was laughing out loud on a flight to Florida and I mean really laughing and I am not one to laugh at anything...... Since we purchased the DVD my kids have watched this about seven times and they are still laughing at it.... So look if you need a film that offers nothing except a good laugh and brightens up a lazy Sunday when its raining surely you cannot go far wrong with this.
- Manuel Frangis6d agoI just watched Jack and Jill again and I would give it 4 out of 5 stars. This is one of those completely ridiculous over the top Adam Sandler comedies that does not try to be anything more than what it is. It is dumb funny and packed with absurd moments that make it way more entertaining than people give it credit for. The story follows Jack a successful advertising executive who dreads the annual visit from his loud and obnoxious twin sister Jill. What starts as a simple family visit turns into complete chaos with Jill overstaying her welcome and Jack desperately trying to deal with the situation. The movie takes this concept and goes all in with ridiculous gags weird situations and some of the most over the top comedy Sandler has ever done. Adam Sandler playing both Jack and Jill is what makes the movie work. He completely commits to both roles especially as Jill who is loud pushy and completely out of control. The way he plays off himself in these two roles leads to some of the funniest and most awkward moments in the movie. Whether you love or hate the idea of Sandler in a dual role you have to admit he goes all in. Al Pacino being in this movie is one of the most unexpected and funniest parts. He plays a fictional version of himself who somehow gets caught up in the madness and his scenes are some of the best in the movie. He fully embraces the absurdity and seeing a legendary actor like him do some of the things he does in this movie makes it even funnier. The humor is a mix of slapstick physical comedy and completely random moments. Some jokes are so dumb they actually become hilarious. There are some gags that are so over the top they should not work but somehow they do. The way Sandler plays both characters and reacts to himself leads to some of the funniest interactions. The supporting cast also adds to the fun. Katie Holmes as Jack’s wife plays the straight character to balance out the craziness while Nick Swardson and David Spade show up with their usual Sandler movie weirdness. There are also a bunch of celebrity cameos that make for some of the most random and hilarious scenes. The pacing is fast and non stop. The movie never slows down and keeps throwing jokes and absurd situations at you. Some of them land better than others but there is never a dull moment. Even when the humor misses it does not matter because the next joke is already on the way. The reason I am giving it 4 instead of a higher rating is because while it is fun it is not Sandler’s best comedy. Some of the jokes feel a little forced and there are moments where the movie feels like it is just trying to be weird for the sake of being weird. But at the same time that is part of what makes it enjoyable. Overall Jack and Jill is a dumb fun comedy that does not take itself seriously at all. It is not for everyone but if you like Adam Sandler’s over the top style of humor this one is worth a watch. It is goofy chaotic and packed with ridiculous moments that make it way more entertaining than people give it credit for. I had a great time watching it and will definitely be watching it again.
