It's What's Inside Ratings & Reviews
- rg9400November 1, 2024I went into It's What's Inside completely blind, and I really enjoyed the way the movie unfolds. Because of that, I will try to keep this review very high level to not spoil too much so that people can still enjoy the twists and turns. The whole movie is heavily stylized, with everything awash in neon colors, mainly blues and reds. The camera will zoom in and out of focus, emphatically announcing its presence. The editing is equally in your face, with frequent split screens and cuts that slide between different images. I found these stylistic flourishes to be enjoyable, though they are certainly over the top at times. Compounded with its zany concept, the direction makes the movie feel like it is bursting with ideas and energy. Also, the entire cast does an admirable job, always feeling believable as their characters even when the movie might be asking too much from them. I've been a fan of Alycia Debnam-Carey for a while, and it's great to see her in this as well. I did have a few criticisms though. The movie takes a while to get to the initial concept, and from that initial concept, it takes a bit to get to the main conflict. ]Once that main conflict arrives, it's really fun to watch it unfold -- I just wish the beginning was cut down. Also, the concept is ripe for interesting thematic, character-driven, and sociopolitical commentary. I don't think this movie fully achieves that though, instead using it for a very surface level exploration. It's hard to explain without spoilers, but it could have done so much more with the dynamics and backstories of its characters. However, it's still fairly entertaining despite that, and though it has missed potential here, it isn't wasted in my opinion. Overall, I recommend this movie if you're looking for a stylish comedy-thriller focused on younger characters with a fascinating concept.
- neuroparadox2d ago"There's something..... different..." I knew nothing about this but loved it all, it feels like an actual play... so if it is, fuck you I didn't know 🖕 Very creative use of colour, and splitscreens... and, honestly, a bunch of stuff....I guess just watch it, it's a hard recommend.
- Devon GeathersJuly 17, 2025I completely misjudged this movie and I’m so glad I watched it because this was fun. There’s a lot to keep track of, but they do help you along the way. Some of the plot twists really got me in a good way. I’ll definitely be watching this again!
- VarunNovember 1, 2024A highly entertaining flick with really unique visualisations and cool camera work. The cast did a superb job as each actor had to portray multiple roles and they totally nailed it. The pacing was really good. The main couple’s drama unfolded with exciting emotionally fuelled moments. At no point was I lost, the film does a great job of keeping the audience informed without being too expository. The ending plot twist was great, personally didn’t see that coming. My only gripe with the film is the cliche characters but as they try out different roles, we get to see different shades of their personality and nuances pop up. All their fates ended up in the perfect place by the end. This is definitely a solid watch for a Halloween movie night with friends.
- Kevin WardJuly 1, 2025Bodies Bodies Bodies Swap I had heard some buzz about this after Sundance but lost track of its distribution. So, a surprise yet unceremonious release on Netflix was disappointing because it would have been a lot of fun to see with a crowd. This body swap whodunnit has excellent energy, and even though it’s a little tricky to track each character in real-time (somewhat complicated by the fact that I wasn’t familiar with almost any of the actors going into this), it’s edited in such a way that makes all of the narrative twists and reveals completely convincing. The brilliance in the editing comes in the form of using color filters to depict each character’s true identity—inspired and creative filmmaking. I can see revisiting this, and it’s worth checking out if you haven’t yet.
- senitsuMay 10, 2025As unbelievable as the plot is it’s a fun watch for a Saturday night
- gradientorangeApril 14, 2025an absolute blast. one of my favorites from 2024. it was so fun pausing the movie to keep up with who was who. there was also some very clever editing that helped. overall, very satisfying story told in an extremely creative and engaging way

- Matthias_812April 2, 2025Took a really long time to get going and had a difficult time keeping up with all the who's who but that last third really saved the film and sold me. Loved the editing too.
- Rob Logan | The Geek GenerationFebruary 22, 2025Absolutely love the premise, even if I don't find it believable that everyone would opt in so easily. Great sense of tension and lots of second guessing throughout. My biggest complaint is that the characters aren't all established as well as they should have been before all the shenanigans start, which makes things even harder to follow as the movie plays out.

- vangh1December 14, 2024The cinematographer sure loves colored lights. As far as body swapping horror goes, this is a fun little romp with some mystery and intrigue, but it doesn't really utilize the concept to examine what it means to be outside yourself beyond making out with people you want to make out with but are too afraid to make out with because of reasons. I thought the introduction of Forbes and his whole vibe early was a little heavy handed, but by the end given how everything plays out I was good with it. I watched this because I saw it was getting lots of play on Letterboxd and I'm glad I did. Even if it wasn't a game changer, it was a Lil but o' fun.
- James TangOctober 9, 2024Surprisingly fun watch, although you may want to take notes. There's a lot to keep track of.
- Patrick and NancyOctober 9, 2024The plot is original and what a blast to see it play out. A modern twist on the old "whodunnit'.
