- macaronzhá 2 diasThis film shows how difficult it is for individuals to fight against state power. It Was Just an Accident is a sobering look at how justice systems are often weaponized against the innocent. The film goes beyond any single nation's politics, demonstrating that wrongful convictions and systemic corruption are global issues whether in Pakistan, the US, or elsewhere. It’s a dark, grounded story about the futility of fighting back against state agencies. A must-watch if you’re interested in political and legal dramas that don't offer easy, happy endings. Acting was good especially from Vahid.
- LivewireAdmin3 de fevereiro de 2026The pacing of this is what ultimately worked against it.
- TomK_BE20 de dezembro de 2025Jafar Panahi once again demonstrates his mastery as a storyteller in this compelling moral drama. True to form, much of the narrative unfolds within the confined space of a van carrying a kidnapped man—allegedly a former prison guard complicit in torturing inmates. The film's greatest strength lies in its refusal to offer easy answers. What begins as a seemingly straightforward tale of retribution gradually reveals the vast distance between revenge and justice. Panahi forces both his characters and his audience to confront uncomfortable questions about morality and the weight of past actions. The pacing is deliberately measured, allowing tension to build organically. The intensity comes not from action but from charged interactions and moral stakes. Panahi's choice to set most of the action in/around the van creates a pressure-cooker atmosphere that magnifies every moment of doubt. "It Was Just an Accident" is a thoughtful, unsettling film that lingers in the mind—a powerful reminder that the path to justice is rarely straight, and that our impulses toward vengeance often obscure more than they reveal.

- Kevin Ward3 de janeiro de 2026Probably favorite ending of the year. A thriller that slowly unfolds without much exposition as to why we’re on this quest for vengeance. And as more and more people become involved, the collective capacity to exact an appropriate amount of retribution becomes increasingly complex. Each victim has their own experience, their own conscience, their own future to consider and it’s all only muddled by the fact that they aren’t 100% sure of the perpetrator. I really all comes together in the final confrontation and that closing shot.
- rg940018 de dezembro de 2025I wanted to like It Was Just an Accident, but the movie never really worked for me. Despite the premise which brings to mind some other high tension movies, this is a very talking heavy movie. In fact, it's almost entirely driven by dialogue with subdued cinematography or score of note. There is a lot of attention to blocking though. There's a compelling moral dilemma at the heart of the movie, but I started to find characters becoming really repetitive as they tried to grapple with their choices. They yell the same things at each other throughout the movie, and most of them don't even really get an arc. The main character does, but it feels cliched and predictable, making the movie feel like it has a lot less nuance and insight than you would expect for something that has spent 100 minutes dissecting the situation. Again, it just speaks to how little ground is covered in the actual dialogue. There are other movies that are very dialogue heavy and feel like thought experiments for an ethical question, but I usually leave those movies feeling like I've learned something or really connected with a character. I didn't with this one, so it ends up just feeling dry, inconsequential, and yes, boring.

- thehave131 de janeiro de 2026Again I agree with the politics of the film but the script is not realistic or serious enough for the subject matter, comedy or drama are not well developed the no one with an ounce of self preservation would act in this manner.
- William De Young15 de janeiro de 2026cool that it was shoot in IRAN, Hope for freedom for this people. the movie was okay but also kind of slow and the end was okay i guess.
- Rowan Krzysiak13 de janeiro de 2026A nice setup that meanders down a mix of poignant high emotion and farce. It does a good job at balancing this unusual mix but for me I did find that some of the crossover muted its impact. Still enjoyable though.
- elpopaa10 de janeiro de 2026Strong psihological and suspense intensity, Sometimes similar with Tarantino movies... Surprising screenplay
- andreyvoev7 de janeiro de 2026Very good drama, along with some philosophical questions.
