- Carl MeyerApril 18, 2025It was a very touching film My wife and I really enjoyed watching the story unfold. We felt the emotions as we watched the story of people that love each other fall into fortunate circumstances and then watch how conflicting feelings need to be resolved in order to make the best decision for the future of the next generation. It’s highlighted the struggle that we often see when previous generations troubles get passed down to the next and the hard work that is needed to break the shackles and truly said the next generation free.
- vangh1October 29, 2024A pretty good adaptation and a pretty good movie! I appreciate that Ryle is neither a cartoon bad guy, nor let off the hook. The way the relationship between Lily and Atlas buds, blossoms, and flourishes feels very well paced and believable. Young Atlas is like a less attractive Logan Lerman, and Grown Atlas is like a less attractive Garret Hedlund Apparently there's some controversy surrounding this so I guess have some reading to do.
- S JohnsonFebruary 17, 2025It was fine but it just sorta feels like "the book was better" and I never read it.
- TheemaineoneJanuary 26, 2025The performances in It Ends With Us don’t fully land. Blake Lively gives Lily a quiet strength, but at times, her portrayal feels a little stiff, especially in moments that should show more vulnerability. Justin Baldoni’s Ryle, on the other hand, doesn’t quite convince me. His shift from charming doctor to a volatile, toxic partner just doesn’t feel earned, and some of the more intense scenes miss the mark. The pacing also feels off. The first half of the movie drags a bit, and then it seems to rush through important emotional moments, leaving some relationships feeling underdeveloped. It’s like the movie never fully takes the time to explore what’s at the heart of the story. What really stands out as a missed opportunity is the way the film handles the complexities of abuse and toxic relationships. While it touches on these themes, it doesn’t dig deep enough to make them feel truly impactful. Given that’s the core of the story, it feels like a bit of a letdown. Overall, It Ends With Us didn’t really do it for me. I found myself wondering what all the hype was about. While fans of the book might connect with it more, for anyone else unfamiliar with the story, it feels like a watered-down version of something deeper. For a film tackling heavy topics, it definitely didn’t meet my expectations.
- JLM @BlockbusterDecember 31, 2024Not good, not great, not bad.
- Jack BlitzDecember 24, 2024One of the hardest watches of the year. Blake Lively, who I believe is a talented actress, delivers a heartless performance with very little to be desired. The story is also flawed and leaves almost no screen-time for conflict resolution. This was a poorly written book turned into an even worse film.
