And yet— You still remember the warmth of her voice echoing down the hallway you never dared enter. This is your story. Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love is not a film about adultery. It is a film about the ache of not committing it. About two people drawn into one another’s orbit— not out of lust, but out of recognition. Their spouses are cheating. Their hearts are drifting. While the plot itself may not be relatable to most, the level of emotion this film is able to conduct is unfathomable and will absolutely resonate with anyone who has experienced love lost in one way or another.

Incredibly effective direction. What the fuck Why in the hell would you meet in the Black Lodge!? “We’d better not be seen together.” proceeds to stand in close proximity for an extended amount of time within blocks of their homes Add to list of nice films to fuck to Whole film kinda revolves around shots showcasing how beautiful one woman and her outfits are. Not complaining. If it works, it works. Only halfway serious. Really it’s like if The Persistence of Memory was set during a period of love in Hong Kong Exquisite film. I see why it’s #12 in the NYT 100 Films of the 21st Century list
