Hustle Ratings & Reviews
- Kevin WardJuly 7, 2025I love when Sandler takes on more dramatic roles. He typically delivers with his performance in such roles. That being said, the phrase “new Netflix - Adam Sandler film” doesn’t exactly presuppose a that you’re going to get one of those uncut gems. I guess that’s likely what makes Hustle such a pleasant surprise. I really, really enjoyed this flick. In some ways a modern take on the Kevin Bacon classic The Air Up There 😝. The film is injected with quite a lot of heart and emotion. I really loved the relationship between Sandler and Queen Latifah. I think Queen Latifah is a criminally underrated actress even though she has a someone minimal role here, her presence is extremely affecting. This is one of those films where it’s a pretty straight forward story that you could probably guess exactly where it’s all headed, but a story well told can still find ways to move you unexpectedly. Hustle definitely has 1 or 2 of those moments at the end that are perfectly crafted to jerk a tear or two from this softy.
