Human Dolls
Directed by Alex RuzziHistory of a doll of human size that is catapulted from his creator on stage of a theater, starts to speak, takes life and criticizes human existence. Tribute to Hans Bellmer (Sculptor, Artist) and Unica Zürn ( Author, Artist). Hans Bellmer used his dolls as an attempt to understand life and death by investigating limits, unconscious fears, and desires. He lived through the repression of artists in Nazi Germany, which became another trauma informing his art. The texts are taken from the anagram poetry by Unica Zürn. Unica Zürn has met the artist Hans Bellmer at an exhibition of his work at either the "Maison DE France" or at the "Galerie Springer" in Berlin. Not long afterward, she moved with him to Paris, becoming his partner and model, most famously in a series of photographs that Bellmer took of Zürn bound tightly with rope. One of the "Unica Tied Up" works was exhibited in Bellmer's 1959 exhibit "Doll, and at times he seemed to conflate Zürn with the dolls of his obsession".
