- "THE MOVIE FANATIC"April 30, 2026The great Vincent Price will always be the king of horror in my mind!!! However I do prefer the 1999 remake purely because that's my era, its a generation thing that's all and this original film was well ahead of its time when it came out in 1959. I have a real soft spot carved out in my heart for House On Haunted Hill 1959. And without this original film the 1999 film wouldn't exist; I really do love and respect it for that to. Also everytime I watch House On Haunted Hill 1999, I always watch the 1959 film first and then watch the 1999 remake straight after, it really does make for an awesome double feature.
