The old baron of Destelbergen is dying in the ancestral castle. He confides to his son the secret of a great treasure, and the map in a small metal container. The clumsy, socially awkward heir is too occupied with staring a life as lord of the manor and hiring a foxy housekeeper and looses the 'key' in the estate gardens. It's found by a knave playing around with other kids, but after a poacher overhears the new baron promise his manservant Pieter a hefty reward to find it, keeps it after the airhead mother throws away the content of the rascal's trousers, only to end up murdered by Pieter. The kids still prove the saving angels and get rewarded.
