Hell High Ratings & Reviews
- Mister ArnMay 24, 2025Nothing about the film works; it lacks suspense, even when bodies drop. If you are high, watching this movie might not be hell.
- Matthias_812April 3, 2025In the late '80s, the slasher genre was running on fumes, with a seemingly endless stream of films recycling the same tired tropes. Among the forgotten gems of the era, Hell High dares to stand out by subverting your typical slasher expectations. A movie that just reeks of Fall season and high school shenanigans. Centered on a group of teen bullies, relentless in their torment of students and teachers alike. Their favorite target: a strict science teacher who doesn't cut them any slack. In a misguided prank gone awry, they inadvertently trigger a chain of events that puts the teacher into a maddening state. The first act establishes our group of bullies, it takes a hairpin turn into terror once the tables are turned. The characters, who were initially the antagonists, are now the ones in peril. Though the film doesn't indulge in excessive gore and makeup effects, the sparing use of them is impactful. In a landscape cluttered with forgettable late '80s slashers, Hell High manages to carve out its own niche by offering a fresh perspective and a thrilling subversion of expectations.
