What an amazing cast and an amazingly done film. Tessa T was deliciously evil. I enjoyed very much seeing this different side from her. Very often have I hated a character more and felt such pity for them simultaneously

    Boring but decent production value

There’s just something about the way Nia DaCosta’s films look that immediately pulls me in. The costumes and production design here are stylish, sleek, and immaculately composed, giving Hedda a glossy, almost venomous elegance. Tessa Thompson and Nina Hoss are both excellent, especially when sharing the frame. Thompson plays Hedda with a delicious, simmering malice that makes the film a lot of fun even if the deeper why of it all remains a bit elusive. Looking forward to DaCosta’s upcoming detour into the 28 Days universe with The Bone Temple….which, holy smokes, that’s only a little more than a month away now. Where did the time go?

How many Chekhov’s guns is one film allowed to have?? And how many times can we hear the name “Hedda” in 107 minutes? My extremely Catholic mom was not a fan, but neither was I. Only totally different reasons (she objects to lesbianism; I object to weak films) I was so unenthused and not drawn in at all. It felt so fake. And on top of that, it felt pompous af. Not an enjoyable watch!
