Die alleinerziehende Gabbie zieht mit ihrem neunjährigen Sohn Travis in eine Villa in New Orleans, die sie für einen erstaunlich niedrigen Preis erworben haben. Sie wollen dort die Vergangenheit hinter sich lassen und ein neues Leben beginnen, doch bereits nach kurzer Zeit merken sie, dass mit dem Haus etwas nicht stimmt: Es spukt. Gabbie holt sich also Hilfe beim örtlichen Priester Kent. Dieser bezieht seinerseits mit Ben einen verwitweten Wissenschaftler und wenig erfolgreichen Experten fürs Übersinnliche, das Medium Harriet aus dem französischen Viertel sowie den mürrischen Historiker Bruche mit ein. Gemeinsam wollen sie das Haus von den bösen Geistern befreien. Doch das ist einfacher gesagt als getan und das Vorhaben der bunt zusammengewürfelten Truppe läuft nicht unbedingt sofort sauber nach Plan.

Juli 2025We kind of needed a chill day for our last day in Tennessee, so we checked out the local AMC “Classic,” which apparently just means an AMC theater that hasn’t been updated or cleaned in a decade. I didn’t even know there were theaters that still exist that don’t have reserved seats. We had to scramble to get to our seats like animals. The good news is there was no one else in the theater besides us soooo, maybe reserved seats isn’t a huge deal for this theater. Onto the review… Haunted Mansion is a perfectly fine family movie. My kids all seemed to reasonably enjoy it. I actually enjoyed the first two thirds for the most part. The cast is really fun. I will never not like Danny DeVito, as he’s a national treasure, in my opinion. Lakeith Stanfield and Rosario Dawson make the most of the material and Owen Wilson is playing his typical character he always plays. Where the movie kind of falters for me is the third act. The resolution has the cast splitting up doing separate things, but the execution is pretty clunky. I love Jamie Lee Curtis, but I honestly thought she was really bad in this (obviously the material doesn’t do her many favors). And Jared Leto, I guess was in this 🤷🏻♂️ It has some decent “family movie scares” that had my 9 year old covering his eyes at times, but didn’t really effect any of the rest of my fam. This certainly could have been better, but it’s about as good as I would have expected.
- ርልዪረ2. Februar 2025👻ྀིྀིExcellent storytelling! I lost track of how many awesome references to the attraction, but loved how they used every single one of them creatively! Acting was top notch with the right amount of comedy and it wasn't forced. So excited to see Ahsoka Tano! She was so amazing I forgot she was Ahsoka Tano! It had the right amount of emotion, heart and jump scares. The little ones may be too scared, but perfect for early teens and up. All plot points led to a satisfying conclusion and I was on the edge of my seat in the third act. Revisiting the ride after the film is a must! Tiffany Haddish stole so many scenes and made me laugh to tears! Lead actor was amazing. I remember him from Get Out and loved to see him as a "hero. " Owen Wilson is always delightful and Jamie Lee Curtis always rocks! The little boy was also a great actor and I loved him in the beginning trying to convince his mom this place is haunted! Danny Devito gave me some laughs and the entire team made it spooky scary but not Paranormal Activity level of unsettling scary. I would see again and one day own this one! Not agreeing with some of the negative reviews online and hope this reaches Disney's ears to possibly do a sequel, although not sure where it could go. If not a Haunted mansion sequel, perhaps a movie about another attraction like the Matterhorn? Lots of material there with the abominable snowman and the shiny treasures he has like a skyway basket (I think) and an older version of the bobsled? Please make more movies centered on these attractions, Disney!! Loved this haunted mansion!!
