- Manuel FrangisMarch 20, 2025I just watched Happy Gilmore again and it is an easy 5 out of 5 stars. This is one of the best and funniest Adam Sandler movies ever made. It is packed with ridiculous comedy unforgettable one liners and a main character that is completely out of control in the best way possible. I am so excited for the second one coming out because this movie never gets old and I cannot wait to see what they do next. The story follows Happy Gilmore a failed hockey player with an insane temper who discovers he has a hidden talent for golf. That setup alone is hilarious but what makes it even better is how Happy completely refuses to fit into the world of professional golf. Instead of being calm and focused like the other golfers he treats every game like a hockey fight and the results are some of the funniest moments in any sports comedy. Adam Sandler is perfect as Happy. He plays the character with so much energy and insanity that you cannot help but love him. His outbursts his trash talk and his completely unhinged way of playing golf make every scene fun to watch. He is not trying to be polite or follow the rules he is just trying to win in the most ridiculous way possible. The supporting cast is just as great. Christopher McDonald as Shooter McGavin is one of the best comedy villains ever. He is arrogant petty and constantly trying to sabotage Happy but he is also absolutely hilarious. Every time he is on screen he delivers another great line or reaction that makes him even more entertaining. Carl Weathers as Chubbs the golf coach is also amazing bringing in some of the best moments and making his scenes with Happy some of the funniest in the movie. The humor in Happy Gilmore is completely over the top in the best way possible. There are fights with old men insane golf swings all out brawls on the green and some of the most random but hilarious moments ever put in a sports movie. Every scene is packed with jokes and almost all of them land perfectly. It is the kind of comedy that never takes itself seriously and just keeps getting crazier as it goes on. Even though this is a comedy the sports aspect of the movie is actually really fun to watch. The way Happy plays golf is so unpredictable that you never know what is going to happen next. The golf tournament scenes are surprisingly exciting even when they are completely ridiculous. The pacing is perfect. There is never a slow moment and every scene either has a great joke a crazy action moment or a hilarious interaction between characters. The movie does not waste any time getting to the good stuff and it keeps the energy high from start to finish. The soundtrack also adds a lot to the movie. The rock music mixed with the golf setting makes for a funny contrast that fits Happy’s personality perfectly. It is just another reason why this movie stands out from other comedies. Even after all these years Happy Gilmore is still one of the best and most rewatchable Adam Sandler movies. It is funny from start to finish filled with unforgettable moments and has one of the best comedy villains of all time. Whether you are watching it for the first time or the hundredth time it never stops being hilarious. With the announcement of a sequel I could not be more excited. I cannot wait to see what Adam Sandler does with Happy this time and if we will get another showdown with Shooter McGavin. If they bring back the same energy and humor as the first movie it is going to be amazing. I absolutely love this movie and I will never get tired of watching it.
- Kynan Markham14h agodisappointed i never watched this sooner. great movie
- ZokkiieJuly 25, 2025Haven’t seen Happy Gilmore in about 20 years, but it still sticks in my mind as one of Adam Sandler’s better early comedies. It’s got that classic '90s goofy charm—loud, over-the-top, and totally unhinged in the best way. There’s a lot of yelling, absurd physical comedy, and of course, the iconic Bob Barker fight scene. Looking back, it’s definitely rough around the edges and some of the humor hasn’t aged perfectly, but there’s still something likable about it. Not a masterpiece, but a fun, ridiculous sports comedy that knew exactly what it was. Still worth a nostalgic rewatch if you’re in the mood.
- Jacob Allen1d agoClassic movie that always makes me laugh
- Rowan Krzysiak2d agoIntensely one-note and middle of the road. It restricts the viewer from thinking under the guise of serving up a good time but the reality is that it's full of stupid, basic scenarios and unlikable characters, Glimore included. As an episode of a Saturday morning kids show it might work.
- uncleanwarJuly 13, 2025A classic
- Austin Burke6d agoA cinematic classic. An all-time comedy. It may be the defining comedic venture of the 90’s, and this was Adam Sandler at his best. Just tap it in.
- NonPlayableContent4d agoIn the insane Sandler-verse this is my second favorite behind Big Daddy.
- Jedi ObiWanFebruary 13, 2025What can I say fab movie of the 90's
- forastray5d agoHappy Gilmore delivers plenty of laughs, mostly thanks to Adam Sandler's explosive temper and over-the-top outbursts that somehow stay hilarious throughout. The story isn't deep, but his wild reactions and chaotic energy keep it entertaining. Definitely a must watch for fans of sport comedy’s
- senitsu5d agoWished I watched this classic earlier
- andrewturner116d agoOnly second to Billy Madison. Either way, this is a must-see 90's comedy.
