- KGM SOSA2026年2月18日Gutterballs is an absolute helluva ride. Let me preface this properly: this is not a high quality film in the traditional sense. It’s so low budget the funds were probably found between couch cushions. The acting is questionably rough. The production value is raw. By most conventional standards, it’s a “shitty movie”, a full blown exploitation B-movie & yet… it’s one of the most fun films you’ll ever watch. This is absolute gutter-trash cinema & I mean that as the highest compliment imaginable. For 96 minutes straight, this movie delivers sleazy, chaotic, nudity filled, gore drenched, grindhouse insanity & I loved every second of it. This is unapologetic splatter cinema that knows exactly what it is & leans all the way in. Writer/director Ryan Nicholson (rest in peace) understood the assignment completely. This is fullblown grindhouse sexploitation carnage, nudity everywhere, blood spraying like a busted fire hydrant, characters so obnoxious you start counting down the seconds until they die, this sexploitation splatter fest commits 100% to excess, sleaze & carnage. It’s the kind of movie you don’t forget because it’s so shamelessly over the top. It’s important to stress: the cheesiness is intentional. Nicholson wasn’t some amateur stumbling through a project. He worked on major productions like Ghost Rider, Scary Movie, Deadpool, Supernatural, Grave Encounters 2, The Predator, Altered Carbon, Final Destination & more. He was extremely competent so when I call this a cheap, low-budget grindhouse film, understand that’s a creative choice. This feels like a passion project, it was a love letter to exploitation cinema, not a failed attempt at prestige horror. The nudity & sexual content are outrageous in true exploitation fashion, the gore & kills are nasty over the top, stomach churning, practical effects madness, It’s disgusting, excessive & exactly what this kind of movie should be; wild, creative & genuinely disturbing. Also the dialogue is hilariously over the top. Most of the characters are intentionally obnoxious & unlikeable, which makes watching their inevitable deaths incredibly satisfying. Even the twist works. It’s not mind blowing, but it’s solid & not easily predictable which is more than you can say for many films in this subgenre. Rest in peace, Ryan Nicholson (1971-2019). Thanks for this love letter to grindhouse horror & unapologetic midnight cinema. This was an easy 8/10 in my system (Great / Really liked it / Would recommend) if you like ‘I Spit on Your Grave’ you’ll like this, it’s essentially a way lower budget version of that except with the comedy dialled all the way up.
