It is easy to see why Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s first script made such a big impact, and Robin Williams gives the standout performance by far. Still, the story did not fully work for me, and maybe part of that is because I am watching it more than 20 years after its release, from a very different time and perspective.

It felt real, and the acting by every single person was phenomenal. The music was perfect in all places. A satisfying beginning AND a satisfying end, which is very rare to see. One of the best movies of the genre!

I love a lot of Matt's work, and Ben's good too, but coming straight out of the gate with this masterpiece is absolutely crazy.
- Rowan Krzysiak13 februari 2025I watched this while in hospital and emotionally vulnerable but this one got to me about 4 or 5 times. It doesn't feel especially original or even that feasible but it's just done so well, particularly the characters and their interactions. It broke me down, patted me on the head and waved me away to be reborn. Highly recommended.
