G.I. Joe: Retaliation Ratings & Reviews
- JazzcatApril 21, 2026Lots of action, great effects, very effective plot, well-executed! The totally hot babes certainly helped :-)

- flavo43November 22, 2025G.I. Joe: Retaliation was a real letdown for me. I grew up playing with G.I. Joe figures and watching the cartoons, so I went in hoping the sequel would improve on the first movie, which was merely okay. Instead, it basically hits reset: kill off most of the original team, throw in new characters, and hope the nostalgia carries it. It doesn’t. The plot is wildly over-the-top, even by G.I. Joe standards, and leans far too heavily into cartoonish, world-ending stakes without grounding any of it in believable military action. What could have been a fun, slightly more realistic modern take on the property turns into a noisy CGI mess, with action scenes that blur together and very little emotional investment. A few moments and characters show flashes of what might have been, but overall, Retaliation squanders both the brand and the goodwill of long-time fans.
- AjayAugust 18, 2025While I wasn't too thrilled with Rise of Cobra, Retaliation is a bit better - but it loses itself in being too military-oriented as opposed to the secretive sect of Joes that come out of the shadows to topple Cobra's efforts of world domination. I did enjoy the star-studded cast of badasses, combined with the spectacular effects and fight sequences, but at the end of the day it continues to feel like your standard Gerard Butler-esque B-movie. Still a fun watch, though.
