Friday Ratings & Reviews
- Delroy G JamesFebruary 11, 2026Rewatching Friday, directed by F. Gary Gray and starring Ice Cube and Chris Tucker, reminds you why it became a cult classic. Set over the course of a single day in South Central Los Angeles, the story is simple but tightly structured. The stakes are clear (Smokey owing money to Big Worm), and every interaction feels organic to the neighborhood. The humor comes naturally from conversations rather than exaggerated situations, giving the film a grounded, authentic tone. The chemistry between Craig and Smokey drives the film, balancing laid-back pacing with sharp, quotable dialogue. Compared to its sequels, Friday feels more focused and character-driven, with a clean buildup and payoff. It is still one of the strongest entries in the trilogy and easily the most cohesive. A favorite of mine since I was a young Marine watching it in the barracks lounge.
- CaseyGallioFebruary 4, 2026One of my favorite movies of all time. Never gets old
- ErikthepaceOctober 11, 2025Far and away, the best Friday movie. It's the only one that actually has something to say; an actual message to the people that lived that life. Excellent film. Hysterical too.
- mickerdooAugust 25, 2025A hood comedy classic. Deals with some actual issues but generally doesn't take itself too seriously. An easy watch with tons of quotables.
- HumptyFebruary 20, 2025Rumor has it Smokey never made it back after being stuck in Rush Hour.
- Rihanna VegaMarch 6, 2025When I tell you this movie is funny , I mean it I LOVE this movie I watched it over 30 times! It is just amazing!
- kirkking11June 1, 2025One of the best Black movies made
- JacobJuly 27, 2025Director’s Cut Friday (1995) is a fun movie with a powerful ending. It’s not my favorite comedy, but there’s some iconic moments that live on through memes. I’m pretty sure the main characters inspired Franklin and Lamar in GTA V as well, so… this is the closest we’ll get to those cancelled story mode DLC’s. I swear this movie opens with Curtis Mayfield - Freddie’s Dead, but I didn’t hear it this time. Is that from the theatrical version? I could’ve sworn I’ve only seen the director’s cut of this movie.
