Kerri's parents believe that it is a sin to marry a man who has already been married. Through Kerri's disobedience she ends up pregnant with Joseph's child and she hopes that the child brings the family together. Her father ends up fighting a battle with lung cancer while Kerri and Joseph's relationship begins to fall apart after Joseph's infidelity. Kerri ends up in a relationship with a man (Kevin) that she works with and moves to another city with her son (Elijah), leaving her son to never speak with Joseph again. Elijah graduates high-school and enters into his first semester in college. While in college Elijah encounters all sorts of obstacles that take him off his path off righteousness. He engages in pre-marital sex, drugs and alcohol. He even faces expulsion from college. In the midst of this turmoil Elijah starts to be curious about his father so he makes a decision about going to meet him. Where Elijah ends up is a surprise to all!
