I’ve never took too much note of Walter Hill but after this and Driver (and even Brewster millions) I think I will def be doing a deep dive to all his movies at some point. This flick is a good time with Characters with a capital C. Everyone is chewing their scenes unrelentlessly. By act 3 it may wear a bit thin but dang it if you still hits satisfyingly for action schlockiness, unhinged characters and hammy dialog delivered with earnestness worthy of the Oscar’s. Can I just say Rip Torn is awesome in this. Shame hes only in a 3rd of it. His character was so great.

well dang to hell if this isn't the missing link of all 80s action films. the nexus of nihilism, the crossroads of chaos, the bloodbath of brutality you have all been looking for. with the greatest collection of bad guys being bad, its a swell crowd pleaser of a flick. nothing fancy here. just guns, blood, one liners and dust.

Perfect. Can’t get a better cast. Nolte, Powers Booth, IRONSIDE…Clancy Brown (Highlander…the best one), Marco Rodriguez… as a good guy! Tiny Lister, William Forsythe…BETTER than the cast in Predator. Action was great. Nolte actually bought a 1911 to practice with. My first wheel gun was a S&W 686, like the one IRONSIDE packed…along with that suppressed MAC 10? In my top 10 along with the Dogs of War, The Wild Geese, and The Final Option.

I liked this. A lot. It keeps going in directions you're not expecting. Even the plot summary is misleading. And the cast is insane. Like they introduced a bunch of guys at the start and they were all cool actors, and then the opening credits began and damn if it didn't go through a lot of other names before we even get to the guys from the intro. And a good number that I didn't recognize the name but sure did recognize the face. Powers Boothe sure does chew up the scenery. And Nick Nolte is all stoic. Then Michael Ironside is somewhere in the middle. The entire movie is just sweaty and dusty. And bloody. Healthy squib budget. I don't think anyone dies from a single bullet. It had to be a minimum of three. The finale was fantastic.
