- Pypical16. Dezember 2025I don’t understand why this movie is so obscure…. Tony Gilroy is a creative mastermind so of course it’s a good movie even if it’s not anywhere near his best. Also has Hugh Grant and a whole list of known actors, good acting OK writing good enough story!

Februar 2025Not the best Hackman movie I've seen and he plays a relatively minor role here, but the film is still entertaining and it makes a change to see Hugh Grant in a more serious role as a hospital surgeon instead of him playing his usual bumbling lightweight characters or period drama rogue or gallant. If you like films like 'Coma' and 'The Film' you will like this movie too. Grant plays the part of a hospital surgeon who can't make out why a patient of his, with unusual unexplained symptoms, dies on him after uttering some strange clues as to why he has a cut on his back and then he disappears. He starts to ask too many questions of his colleagues and superiors and in doing so 'rattles too many cages internally' that he is set up for a crime he didn't commit to oust him from his post and ruin his medical career to throw him off the scent. Only he doesn't give up; he is more determined than ever to find out what is going on. Eventually, he pieces together the clues and finds out that lots of homeless vagrants and other social misfits are being experimented on like rats to help further neurological research that will enable paraplegics to walk again. Only what they are doing is highly unethical and illegal and his determination to get to the bottom of the intrigue nearly gets him killed.
