Enemy at the Gates Ratings & Reviews
- stuhannafordMarch 19, 2026Terrible movie. Some real headline actors, but with the exception of Weisz, they have all had an off day. Three major issues. First, the score is a disaster. I understand it's an authentic Russian folksong, but having the Tetris tune going off repeatedly during what is meant to be a serious subject matter is naively inserted, and incredibly distracting. The rest of the music? Better placed in an Indiana Jones entry at times, and again, the tone is off. Second, some of the accents. Dreadful, enough said. Lastly, and most problematic, is nigh on every actors line delivery. I'm not sure if it's the script, a directorial decision or just terrible, terrible acting, but I genuinely spent most of the movie checking lips being synced, convinced it must be dubbed. Flat, dead pan, and void of any emotion, which leads to a complete lack of tension. One to forget... although the romantic scene may take quite a while to clear from the memory.
- mickerdooJuly 1, 2025Phenomenal mini war game within WWII. Harris, Law and Weisz make captivating roles. Also amazing true story.
