While I may have to classify this movie as a guilty pleasure, it's got an undeniably catchy soundtrack and gorgeous animation you've only seen out of class acts like The Iron Giant and various Disney movies. Whitey Duvall kinda ended up as one of my favorite weird old guys in fiction as well. While not all the humor doesn't age well, some of the outdated by now references are some of the charm of this movie. To be honest, the Dukesberry Mall really takes me back to some good ol' millennium style mall memories which makes it particularly cozy during the holidays. This movie also has some good heart to it as well even though some toilet humor may lead you to believe differently, ending on a pretty solid feel-good moment that usually leaves me feeling a spark of holiday cheer afterwards. It's either that or tingly feeling from the scorpion bowl Davey recommended.

- cultfilmliker23 de diciembre de 2025Regret not seeing this in theaters on the first night of Hanukkah. Putting it on for my Catholic family while they bake cookies was fun tho too. I’m doing my best. “Why are you eating that?” has been stuck in my head for 23 years I’ve always loved the animation in this and seeing it in 1080p for the first time was surprisingly wonderful! It’s great how much the Sandman has demonstrated a true love for basketball in his films for multiple decades Incredible how I knew essentially every beat of this film even tho I haven’t seen it in about 20 years
