I thought Samara Weaving was poised to be a star but her agent seems to be doing everything in their power to make that not the case lmao loved the turn. Genuinely thought the movie was over. Very dumb! Some solid comedic moments tho! Seeing Edy Modica and Randall Park were brief highlights!

Eenie Meanie (2025) is an action comedy drama from first-time feature director Shawn Simmons, streaming on Hulu. Samara Weaving plays Edie, a former teenage getaway driver pulled back into a life of crime to save her unreliable ex-boyfriend from a mob boss. The cast also includes Karl Glusman, Andy Garcia, Steve Zahn, Marshawn Lynch, and Randall Park. The film has real strengths: a strong visual identity, a final car chase with impressive practical stunt work, and a Cleveland setting that gives it regional texture most crime films avoid. Garcia's turn as crime boss Nico is quietly effective, and Zahn gets one genuinely moving scene as Edie's disabled father. The premise — a woman realizing that the person she loves cannot change — has real emotional potential. The weaknesses are equally real. The tone oscillates between crime comedy and bittersweet relationship drama without landing either consistently. The supporting cast is underused. Karl Glusman's John, the love interest, never quite convinces you that Edie's devotion to him makes sense, which undermines the whole emotional engine. Shawn Simmons clearly loves his genre influences — Baby Driver, Tarantino — but doesn't yet have the formal confidence to make those influences his own. Weaving carries it. She's the reason to watch and the reason it works as well as it does. If you're a fan of hers, or if you enjoy crime comedies that take their female protagonist seriously even when the writing doesn't fully keep up, it's worth a Friday-night watch.

    ### **The Good, The Slow, and The Unexpected** * **Pacing and Action:** Honestly, the film left me with a bittersweet feeling regarding its pacing. For a movie involving getaway drivers, the racing scenes felt quite slow and lacked that spark of adrenaline one typically expects. * **The Cast:** The work of the lead actress (Samara Weaving) deserves special mention; she possesses tremendous talent and, honestly, steals every scene she appears in. * **The Climax:** The film truly takes off during the second race. The money heist sequence at "The George" was one of the movie's highlights; it was very well executed and maintained a high level of tension throughout. * **The Final Twist:** Although the plot felt somewhat monotonous—like climbing a staircase one step at a time without much novelty—the ending was what truly salvaged the experience. I didn't expect that outcome at all, and I was pleasantly surprised. **My Verdict:** A film that starts off slow but makes the wait worthwhile with a very solid final twist and a standout lead performance.

Eenie Meanie is a low rent action movie that isn't great, but isn't horrible. Samara Weaving does a great job of playing a smart, talented woman that has shit taste in men and poor decision making skills. Karl Glusman is most of her poor decisions. She's a former getaway driver who gets pulled back into a life of crime by her ne'er-do-well ex-boyfriend (Glusman). It was nice to see Andy Garcia again, who plays a crime boss who forces the two of them to do one last job. Aside from that there isn't much to talk about. Ultimately, the film's simple premise and charismatic leads made it a fun and easy watch, and for a movie like this, that's really all that matters.

It's a pretty decent action action movie with a good twist at the end. Not going to ruin nothing worth the watch.

A Concept That Never Quite Comes Together "Eenie Meanie" starts with an idea that hints at something clever or offbeat, but the execution never fully delivers on that promise. The film feels hesitant and uneven, caught between wanting to be sharp and settling for something far more generic. There are moments where you can sense what the movie is trying to do, and occasionally it even works. A few scenes manage to be mildly engaging, and there's a glimpse of personality buried beneath the surface. Unfortunately, those moments are too rare to carry the whole experience. The biggest issue lies in the writing. The script feels undercooked, with ideas introduced and dropped without much impact. Characters lack depth, making it hard to stay invested, and the story struggles to build real momentum. Instead of escalating or evolving, it tends to drift, leaving the film feeling flat and forgettable. "Eenie Meanie" isn't aggressively bad, but it's disappointing. It feels like a missed opportunity - a movie that could have been sharper, bolder, or at least more engaging, but ends up stuck in mediocrity. A watchable experience, perhaps, but not a memorable one.

Good movie and better acting! It also includes a top 100 car chase. This would have done well in theaters. What is up with Rotten Tomatos?

It's shallow, with the plot and vibe bringing little to the table, yet I enjoyed every minute of it. I wasn't preached at, signaled at what the correct world view I was supposed to have, or even tried to impress me with masterful writing or directing. If I was rating this movie in an earlier year, I would probably rate it lower. But with absolute unwatchable garage getting 7-8 ratings, this easily scores as a 7 in my book. This is like a low-effort version of 'Crank' - less action, more 'vibe'. If you aren't in the mood for that vibe, it might rub you the wrong way. Decent enough car scenes to be entertaining, decent enough acting to sell the casual 'what did I do?' vibe, and chaotic enough to entertain.

It turned out to be a pretty fun watch—light, silly, and easy to enjoy. It doesn’t aim high, and it never gets particularly good or bad; it just sits comfortably in the middle. Not memorable, but entertaining enough for a laid-back movie night.

I will watch just about anything that Samara Weaving signs up for. This one isn't great, but I'm still a fan. If you like her, it's a worthwhile watch, and probably entertaining enough even if you're not a fan.

There was just enough banter and car chase action to keep me interested. The 1st and 2nd acts were fun and exciting but the end took on a tone I didn't expect. Not a terrible movie but based on the trailer I was expecting something different.

I thought this was a fantastic 90 minutes worth of entertainment for me. The Deadpool-ish dialog with some just plain funny bits made it worthwhile
