- thehellezell20. März 2026If you like 70s and 80s wuxia / kung fu films this is a 3 star movie. If you enjoy the novelty of watching with red/cyan 3D glasses, this movie is easily 5 stars. The plot was a little hard to follow at first, but the action is excellent and the film has lots of wacky weapons (killer umbrellas, flying guillotines, floppy poles, etc) and limbs and heads are flying all over the place. It is an excellent martial arts exploitation flick in the vein of Invincible Super Chan, Master of the Flying Guillotine, etc. What is most remarkable is how the 3D is integrated into all levels of the production. The Kino Cult 3-D restoration of this movie is fantastic. Something about the color palettes and lighting in this movie make the red/blue 3D effects work extremely well if you can get the colors dialed in on your TV. They've mostly avoided using colors that cause the shimmering / flashing effect you usually get with anaglyph 3D (or maybe this is the "Super 3-D" technology that was part of the promotion?). This movie is chock full of fun 3D gimmick shots and gags, but also has been shot and blocked to get multi-layered and immersive depth effects throughout.

China 1638, kurz vor dem Ende der Ming-Dynastie. Der skrupellose Eunuch Chou (Pai Ying) nutzt das Chaos im Land für seine Zwecke. Getrieben von Macht- und Geldgier watet er im Blut seiner Opfer. Nicht einmal eine Gruppe von Shaolin-Mönchen, die ihn zur Besinnung bringen wollen, überleben dieses. Chou wird aber vom Abt der Mönche vor dessen Tod noch schwer verletzt. Dadurch ist sein Körper nicht mehr durch die Technik der eisernen Haut geschützt. Ein junger Kämpfer (Tan Tao-Liang) beschließt nun, der Schreckensherrschaft des grausamen Eunuchen ein Ende zu bereiten. Er hat dafür nur eine Woche Zeit: Chou wird bis dahin seine Verletzung auskuriert haben. Dann kann die Bestie in Menschengestalt die Technik der eisernen Haut perfektionieren und wird vollends unbesiegbar ...
