The first time you watch it will have you on the edge of your seat for sure. Maybe just turn on the subtitles though lol
- agisimJune 26, 2026Absolutely mind blowing and amazing 💆🏿♂️….there was a lesson learnt there that “never trust anyone “ and there’s something I observed in that movie is that the soldier refused to take orders from his sergeant by disagreeing to kill the dog and later he got saved by a dog 🐕…..I love it❤️

It kind of turns into The Thing? Whole ending was bonkers - good and bad (mostly bad) [Honestly I know there are a ton of better comparisons but I’m lazy and don’t care enough rn]

The kitchen scene with the soldier who runs out of bullets and weapons is an instant classic and very funny.

Dog Soldiers isn’t a blockbuster, but it doesn’t need to be—it’s a clever, bloody, and wildly fun cult favourite that embraces its limitations with style.

The werewolf designs are excellent, as horrifying and extremely violent monsters, the cast is top notch and unusual for a horror movie, the characters are interesting enough to care about. Would totally recommend 10/10.
- ShaydeknightNovember 8, 2025Dog Soldiers is a middle-of-the-road werewolf film that tries to capture the gritty, military-versus-monster energy of Predator or Aliens, but never quite hits the mark. It has its moments, but overall, it's a bit too silly and uneven to take seriously. The camaraderie and dialogue among the soldiers feel authentic. These are rough, battle-hardened men, and their banter and reactions sell that well. Once the story gets moving, it maintains a decent pace, and the central concept (soldiers trapped in the wilderness facing werewolves) has solid potential. For a low-budget production, the werewolf designs and makeup effects are surprisingly good and show a lot of creativity and effort. Unfortunately, the film stumbles hard in other areas. The plot is often contradictory and confusing, with character motivations (especially the woman's) poorly developed or outright nonsensical. The low-budget gore and effects strain credulity, sometimes to the point of comedy. There's one especially ridiculous scene (spoilers avoided) involving a man's intestines that turns from horrifying to farcical in seconds. It's meant to shock, but it just feels cheap and absurd. As a fan of werewolf movies, I wanted to like this one more. There's a good idea buried in there, and the werewolves themselves are handled with respect and imagination. But everything else, from story coherence to production polish, lands just one step above mediocre. Dog Soldiers has a cult following, and I can understand why some might enjoy its rough charm, but for me, it's more mess than masterpiece.
