This movie was a waste of time. Very boring. Hated every minute of this.

Spielberg’s classic sci fi films usually work as allegories that use spectacle to explore something deeper. Disclosure Day feels strangely literal by comparison. It plays like a conspiracy thriller that wants you to imagine how the world would react if alien visitations turned out to be real. There are a few strong Spielberg set pieces that keep the film entertaining, and the message about empathy and listening is familiar and welcome in a world that is far more cynical. The problem is that the story collapses the moment you try to examine any of its logic.
The example that sticks out in my mind is that it’s established that aliens can appear as animals to keep the humans calm. That suggests that the various animal encounters in the film were actually aliens. But, like, why? Why only two “experiencers.” If the aliens have been around for 79 years, why are both experiencers in their thirties or forties. The movie keeps presenting ideas that sound like they should matter, then never follows through.
Jane’s (Eve Hewson) arc is the one part of the film that genuinely works. Her struggle to reconcile her Catholic upbringing with the revelation in front of her is the most grounded and human thread in the story. What does this revelation mean and is it still in congruence with her belief in God. In addition, the scenes where Scanlon (Colin Firth) tries to access her mind to locate Daniell Kellner (Josh O Connor) are some of the only moments that create real tension.
Too often the drama has no consequence. Margaret Fairchild (Emily Blunt) telepathically warns Kellner that the WARDEX (secretive, quasi‑governmental security apparatus) have found his location and are closing in on Jane. He discovers this on his own seconds later. Her warning changes nothing. His attempt to hide behind a see through fence while crunching loudly on gravel feels unintentionally comedic.
The finale is the biggest disappointment. The idea that world changing information must be broadcast over the air instead of posted online feels completely disconnected from how people consume media. The depiction of crowds stopping in place to watch a phone screen looks hokey. The final “Listen…” line earned groans at my screening.
Spielberg is still the greatest to ever do it. This script simply does not give him the foundation he needs.

The E.T. generation grew up but he’s finally come back for us. What an absolutely beautiful film!

This movie asks what if we made a blockbuster movie about aliens with some decent actors and nothing new to say.

A beautifully tense and deeply humane film. What begins as fear and mystery slowly opens into something much more moving: a story about empathy, contact, and the possibility of meeting the unknown without domination or violence. The final minutes are devastating in the gentlest way. For me, the real “disclosure” is not about aliens, but about whether we are still capable of compassion.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 9.5/10 – An Incredible Experience This is not your typical alien movie. From the very beginning, it pulls you into an atmosphere of mystery, tension, and emotion that never lets go. The story is well crafted, the cinematography is stunning, and it stays with you long after the credits roll. If you enjoy intelligent sci-fi and suspenseful thrillers, this is definitely a must-watch. 👽 Rating: 9.5/10 🎬 Highly Recommended 🛸 No Spoilers ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 9.5/10 – Una experiencia increíble No es la típica película de extraterrestres. It's stunning, with absurd story and 30 years late.

Disclosure Day was unfortunately a let down for me but still an enjoyable film. Positives: - The movie is well made, well directed, well shot, well edited, and well paced - The movie visually looks really good - The set pieces look and are great - The action sequences are intense and executed very well - The cast all do an amazing job and deliver fantastic performances - The ending and the entire third act is also really cool Negatives: - The movie came off feeling generic and simple - The movie felt like a movie I have seen before just done in a different way - I don’t like the message put into the film - I don’t like the usage of aliens - The plot is extremely simple with not really any uniqueness added into it Overall Disclosure Day is still a good movie but I was severely disappointed with it.

Spielberg's worst movie How and why did this get made so badly? It might be half ok, if you are on a Morphine drip, actually nah even then it would still be terrible.

Really good even if Wilkins hated it.

Spielberg still has it. Blunt delivers a career-best turn as a meteorologist whose encounters spiral into a paranoid conspiracy chase that splits the difference between Minority Report and Close Encounters. Williams' score soars, the blocking is gorgeous, and the back half genuinely got me. Loses half a star for a baggy script and a finale that pushes too hard for tears. Still one of his best in years.

Boring. Close Encounters is a much better movie.

I really feel like what this movie needed to elevate it to great is a few more scenes of government agents swarming a location from all directions in unmarked black cars. Maybe I’m just a bit of a pessimist, but I think the way Spielberg and I think everyone, near and far, would react during the last 10-15 minutes is very different.
