Corner Office Ratings & Reviews

Jon Hamm stars in this absurdist office drama about a new hire that finds a secret corner office that no one else seems to see. Hamm is cast to be an almost anti-Don Draper type here as he doesn’t connect with his co-workers (like his desk mate played by Danny Pudi) and is only really able to function fully when he can escape to this secret office. The production values are reminiscent of Severance on AppleTV+ though not quite on that level (I know this was actually shot first). It features a drab corporate office setting bathed in washed out greens while the corner office features a luxurious mid-century modern feel. While I was watching this, I was taken with the feeling that Hamm’s character was possibly autistic or perhaps some other form of high functioning neuro-divergent. The film features a running voice over narration from Hamm describing his thoughts and they don’t always connect with what’s happing around him. He spills coffee on his pant leg, then simultaneously wonders why his leg is warm and wet. Anytime he goes into this secret office, the other employees experience is that they see him simply staring blankly at a wall. Though it makes his co-workers uncomfortable, the work he produces when he’s in the “corner office” is the best the company has seen. I think this interpretation completely works as a commentary on how we handle neurodiversity in the workplace in particular. After finishing the film, though, I’m not altogether certain that was the intended interpretation (and I think that even more after reading some other reviews). I’m really curious how others interpret this film. So while the Corner Office feels a little one note in its absurdist structure, I think there’s plenty here to chew on in terms of digging into the meaning of it all.
Geek Vibes Nation
Andrew Fukui
A satirical yet chilling examination of corporate American culture and the long-term effects it can have on workers.
Common Sense Media
Tara McNamara
Like its main character, Orson, this comedy is so "peculiar" that not everyone will understand it -- but that's absolutely the point, which makes it brilliant.
FilmWeek (LAist)
Claudia Puig
It's meant to be absurdist and satirical, but it just comes off one-note and facile. It may have worked as a short, but not a full length feature.
The MacGuffin
Allen Almachar
The film is making a comment on the trials and tribulations of working in an office setting, but the messaging is fuzzy.
RogerEbert.com
Peyton Robinson
"Corner Office" is a sometimes-funny satire stuffed with capitalist ennui, but it bites with dull teeth.
Draftkings Nation
Murjani Rawls
Instead of committing to the sci-fi complexities it can venture towards, 'Corner Office' looks to pull the emergency break on it all. In the end, you are left with two conclusions that both feel incomplete.
Cinemalogue
Todd Jorgenson
Relying heavily on droll narration, the film's amusing absurdist vibe produces some laughs but its one-note premise becomes tiresome well before it clocks out.
Blu-ray.com
Brian Orndorf
Hamm makes for a convincing oddball, and there's enjoyable hyper-sensitivity to the effort, with Orson's buzzing brain providing sufficient itchiness to the viewing experience.
CBR
Sam Stone
Despite a noble effort from Jon Hamm, the workplace comedy Corner Office is neither funny nor insightful.
Paste Magazine
Aurora Amidon
While Corner Office is heavily concerned with satirizing office culture, it doesn't actually bother to say anything meaningful about it.
Next Best Picture
Giovanni Lago
While Hamm does everything he can to elevate the film, the film offers nothing in return to him making "Corner Office" just another odd addition to the filmography of a talented individual who should be one of Hollywood's biggest stars.
NYC Movie Guru
Avi Offer
A dull, toothless and tedious satire.
Slant Magazine
William Repass
The film goes to show that humanism and absurdism are often two expressions of the same face.
Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews

The Playlist
Jason Bailey
Because it's so drab and one-note, "Corner Office" leaves the viewer with lots of time to contemplate the Hamm Conundrum
Mama's Geeky
David Gonzalez
Lacking compelling reasons to stick around, the film offers a reminder of why working from home may be the solution rather than sticking around for a second view of this disappointing slog.
IGN Movies
Siddhant Adlakha
The decision to cast Jon Hamm as a man who wishes he were a Don Draper type keeps the film afloat, all the way through its plateauing tale of corporate tedium and a mysterious office space no one else can see.
IndieWire
David Ehrlich
Back's direction lacks the wry kick of Karlsson's writing, while Kupper's script compromises between satire and surrealism in a way that often neutralizes them both.
The Hollywood Reporter
Frank Scheck
The film features a fascinating premise that unfortunately wears thin over the course of its feature-length running time.
