Cold Pursuit Ratings & Reviews
- eif999January 26, 2025Better than average Neeson crime revenge film
- Manuel FrangisMarch 26, 2025I just watched Cold Pursuit, and I give it 5 out of 5 stars. This movie took me by surprise in the best way. I expected a typical revenge action flick with Liam Neeson doing what he does best—and yeah, you get that—but there’s also this dark, weird humor and a style that makes it feel completely different from anything else in the genre. It’s sharp, cold (literally), and totally its own thing. Liam Neeson plays Nels Coxman, a quiet snowplow driver living in a snowy Colorado town. When tragedy hits his family, he sets out for revenge, but the movie takes it in a direction that’s not just about action—it’s also about how insane and twisted the whole cycle of violence really is. What starts as a personal mission turns into something way bigger, and the way the movie handles that shift is just so well done. Neeson brings the same energy you’d expect from him, but this time he plays it even more understated. He’s not some trained killer or ex-special ops guy. He’s just a regular man pushed too far. And that makes him more relatable. He doesn’t say much, but every time he’s on screen, you feel the weight of what he’s going through. It’s a more subtle performance, but that’s what makes it hit harder. What really makes Cold Pursuit stand out is the tone. It balances revenge thriller elements with this dry, almost absurd humor. There are scenes that made me laugh just because of how strange or unexpected they were. The way it treats death and crime is so over-the-top and casual, it ends up being both brutal and hilarious. It reminded me a little of Fargo in that way—not copying it, but giving you that same dark, snowy vibe with a bunch of weird characters and bad decisions piling up. Speaking of characters, the supporting cast is wild. There’s a whole crew of villains and side characters, each with their own quirks and twisted logic. Everyone has a name, a moment, and a personality, even if they’re only on screen for a few minutes. It adds so much flavor to the story and makes the world feel weirdly alive. The main villain, in particular, is totally unhinged and delivers some of the most offbeat moments in the whole movie. The pacing is great, too. The story never drags, and every scene pushes something forward—whether it’s action, character, or just a bizarre twist you didn’t see coming. The editing and visuals are sharp, the snowy setting is gorgeous but bleak, and the atmosphere fits the tone perfectly. You’re not just watching a revenge movie—you’re watching a strange, cold, unpredictable world unravel. I give Cold Pursuit 5 out of 5 stars because it’s a rare kind of action movie that’s stylish, smart, funny, and still hits hard when it needs to. It’s not just about violence—it’s about how ridiculous that violence becomes when everyone is out for their own version of justice. Overall Cold Pursuit is a darkly funny, stylish revenge thriller that stands out from the crowd with its tone, performances, and weird sense of humor. Liam Neeson kills it again literally but this time, the movie adds a unique spin that makes it one of his most underrated roles. I didn’t expect to enjoy it this much, but I absolutely did.
- RyezooFebruary 14, 2025What a strange film! Very dark humor that settles in well about half way through. I enjoyed this, some really funny moments and plenty violent. Liam Nelson is good in this. Honestly it’s when he disappears for long portions that this films pacing drags a little. The ending also kinda leaves a lot of questions unanswered as well. This is still a totally watchable film and worth checking out.
- 匚卂尺ㄥFebruary 3, 2025Saw the movie "Cold Pursuit" and I loved it. It had comedy mixed with drama and suspense, I don't think I have ever seen another movie like this one, it was great. It had some real funny scenes and then you were right back to the killing and drama and suspense. I think Liam Neeson was absolutely great in this one. Laura Dern had a very short part in the movie and didn't really care for how they exited her but I guess it really was more about Liam and drug dealers anyway. There were some absolutely beautiful scenes of the mountains and truly made me want to go see them in person. I can't wait till this one hits Netflix or Prime so I can watch it again. The ending is the best, confetti all over the mountains. I highly recommend this one.
