Classic, coming of age love story, a love letter to film itself.

A classic. I didn't know this Director's Cut and I found it much more interesting, denser and stronger than the original. Tornattore is a master of camera movement and close-up. It is the soundtrack, one of the most beautiful in the history of cinema, by another master: Morricone.

    Loved it.

All the feels with exceptional performances from Noiret, Cascio, Leonardi and Nano. Very romanticized. But heart warming and sweet.

A look at nostalgia, with heartbreak and fondness, through the eyes of a wide eyed child, all the way to the regrets of adulthood, and the stretches in between. Friendship, love, loss, and hurt, leading to a real, authentic end, that leaves a smile and a tear in equal measure. There is so much to enjoy, and it offers a reflection of the world around us as its most basic level, the relationships we build, the ones we long for, and the ones, which in some cases, crumble, filling in all the pieces we missed whilst growing up. Wonderful.

I too love Alfredo Huh that censorship plot point is timely! Watched this in the theater I grew up in. Pretty fucking emotional So funny! I was embarrassingly loudly laughing at points I apologize for being too aromantic to give it the full five stars Definitely think my mom enjoyed it more before she realized it wasn’t necessarily PRO-Catholic Almost wore my Trotsky shirt but was too fearful it would appear gauche bc you know the whole WWII thing FUCK I LOVE MY FRIENDS AND LONG FOR COMMUNITY Watched at Warren Regal East with my mommy Added to The Non-English Niche

The best romantic movie of the 80's. And aged very well.

The original (not directors cut) of this film is amazing. A love letter to cinema and the theater experience. A coming of age store that revolves around film, the love of cinema… and heartbreak. It’s a perfect film
