Carrie Ratings & Reviews
- runinhotDecember 10, 2025Cool cool 😎
- eyeofthetornadoJuly 26, 2025De Palma’s Carrie is soaked in subtext and atmosphere. It’s not just about telekinesis and blood — it’s a metaphor for female adolescence, religious repression, and the rage of the outcast. The film’s dreamy cinematography, slow-burn pacing, and emotionally charged performances (especially Sissy Spacek’s vulnerable, ethereal Carrie) give it a mythic quality. The terror grows out of character, not spectacle. The 2013 remake, starring Chloë Grace Moretz, is more polished but less potent. It leans heavily on modern horror tropes, digital effects, and blunt exposition. Moretz is talented, but she plays Carrie with too much confidence from the start, undercutting the devastating transformation that made Spacek’s version unforgettable. Julianne Moore is chilling as Margaret White, but the film’s attempt to “update” the story with smartphones and cyberbullying makes it more literal, less symbolic.
- ZzNovember 2, 2025This might actually be my favorite Carrie- Though I haven't finished the original-
- nicpedersonAugust 22, 2025Decent remake, but nowhere near as epic as original.
- JIMFL1XOctober 28, 2024Fails to meet the nuanced portrayal Sissy Spacek's Carrie delivered in the 1976 original adaption, favours more violence in place of the original's nudity.
