Bone Lake Ratings & Reviews
- cyberbillp7d agoIt was obvious from the beginning. Serviceable horror full of bad decisions. I wouldn't rent it or even watch it again. Its just ok. Nothing is wrong with it, just not great.
- rg9400October 24, 2025I could see where this movie was going from the very beginning. Maybe it's because it is borrowing from a lot of other movies, but I wouldn't really say it is very shocking or surprising. I also would not say it is particularly erotic despite all the marketing and a lot of reviews portraying it as this over-the-top sex fest. It does start a bit like that, but it quickly becomes fairly standard. I think the problem is that the movie has a lot of build-up going into its final act, and a lot of it doesn't have the tension of similar movies like Speak No Evil while also not really leveraging humor to keep it engaging. Again, maybe it's because I knew where it was heading. I also initially felt like the acting was pretty stilted and almost thought the actress playing Sage was hired to be a Florence Pugh lookalike and the one playing Will to be a Dave France lookalike. That said, the acting grew on me, and I didn't notice it as much later on. The movie becomes a lot more fun in its final act when it finally lets loose, and I wish it had been willing to do that throughout instead of just for the last 30 minutes. Surprisingly, the cinematography is actually good, especially the lighting in the final act. Unfortunately, it isn't enough to give this movie its own identity separate from the movies it is pulling from, and it just isn't fun enough to make it something I would recommend. Maybe it should have actually leaned into the eroticism a lot more.
- damonf October 29, 2025A fun, satirical take on modern, screwed up, relationship horror.
- Hipster ZOMBIEOctober 25, 2025“Bone Lake” doesn’t ease you in—it throws you into a blood-soaked opening that screams “buckle up.” But what starts as a splatterfest quickly morphs into a sly morality play. Sage and Diego light up the screen with chemistry despite having emotional hang ups like any couple.Enter Will and Cin, the perfect wrench to Sage and Diego’s cog. A doubled booked Air bnb leads the two couples having to share more than a vacation getaway. And just when you think you’ve got the film figured out, the third act drops a jaw-unhinging reveal that makes the opening massacre feel like a warm-up act. This isn’t your typical horror flick with cheap jump scares. “Bone Lake” crawls under your skin by making you question where your own moral compass points. It’s smart. It’s savage. And yeah, it sticks the landing like an axe to the head.
- Tom Bennett7d agoHigh quality production, but suffers from some obvious plot turns. Acting is ok, and there’s lots of sex and sexual innuendo to keep things spicy. However this film needs to decide if it’s gonna take itself seriously or not but doesn’t quite get there leaving me (and the audience at large) inbetween bemused and anticipatory … I was always wanting just a little more, never quite getting it. Some good gore, a few jump scares but overall not a nail biter.
- jthygesenDecember 12, 2025This felt like it had 3 seperate cinematographers and none of them were filming the same movie. The twist was very ew. I will add that seeing an arrow shot through a nutsack was not on my 2025 bucket list but here we are. Not a bad movie but hard to recommend.
- LivewireAdminDecember 2, 2025I'm pretty sure this just came to streaming so not sure why Letterboxd is listing this as a 2024 film? Anyway....this was a decent surprise! Way more interesting and gory than I thought it would be. This opens with some craziness involving a shot I thought I'd never see nor did I really want to lol The cast was good for a bunch of unknowns and. I wanna say the same song was played twice in the movie so it felt a little low budget in that sense (not to mention the song wasn't very good) but other than that I would say I had a good time and it felt unique. Not a terrible way to end my insane October run of movie-watching!
- Tom CooperDecember 2, 2025Predictable honestly, the "twist" I seen coming from the beginning! Pretty bad acting, the opening scene cgi almost stopped me from watching it at all.
- Moker89November 30, 2025One of the most memorable openers in recent memory 👀🤣
- Mark Van den EyndenNovember 13, 2025Good movie good story good akting .Nice slashing not too much
- kieran.charetteNovember 24, 2025Fun movie, writing not that great but has a great final act
- retiredccNovember 8, 2025Unbelievable pointless, no plot and useless sex scenes. Very awkward the whole 9 hours.
- DevlinukrNovember 7, 2025Silly, but watchable popcorn flick.
- jigglyNovember 7, 2025Enjoyed this. Little gory.
- LAWSON72November 5, 2025It is not sexy and it does not show blood for 70+ minutes, so unless you are here for love affair drama don't waste your time.
