Blue Velvet Ratings & Reviews
- AngusMcNutzJanuary 20, 2025Starkly dreary yet hypnotically intense, all wrapped in an aesthetic so smooth, you’ll get lost in it. As much as I love Eraserhead, this is definitely Lynch’s most complete film.
- รҡ૨אρƭเ∂March 12, 2025Most people give this film 5 stars. I gave 2 so I'll explain why. Most don't comment as to why it's so good. When they do there seems to be a focus on things like direction, color, and timing, But for 1986 what they were doing wasn't exactly groundbreaking. From an entertainment standpoint, and I think that's the most important feature that we look for in movies, it just doesn't really do it for me. Certain scenes that are bizarre I enjoy. Others come off as unnatural and please don't tell me that's by design. Those are the ones who might say "well you just don't get it" and I am fine with that. Don't think it's fair but I'll take it. Or maybe I'm just not diggin it. It's not my flavor maaaan. Plus I feel like it's some kind of film critic version of a Virtue Signal to give this film 5 stars. But I am here to be entertained. Not that this film lacks it all together, it has some, just not 5 starts worth IMHFO. 3.9/10
- James SaenzJanuary 17, 2026“i had a dream; in fact, it was the night i met you. in the dream, there was our world, and the world was dark because there weren't any robins and the robins represented love. and for the longest time, there was just this darkness. and all of a sudden, thousands of robins were set free, and they flew down and brought this blinding light of love. and it seemed like that love would be the only thing that would make any difference. and it did. so, i guess it means there is trouble 'til the robins come.“ it’s a david lynch weekend. the past year without him has felt like this darkness, and moments i get to watch something of his feel like hearing a robin sing.
- SamJanuary 7, 2026mike really thought he was in a high school romance movie
- domini7846July 22, 2025This is a nearly perfect movie. Lynch is such a master in what he does
- cultfilmlikerMay 3, 2025Love how it just makes you sit with the devastation and observe. So powerless. I will say one thing most people are too scared to: the climax could have been done better.
- mbizz3July 10, 2025Classic David Lynch film. May his soul rest in peace. I was most impressed by the approach the filming took that allowed the audience to really get a feel for the apartment. Most of the movie took place in the apartment so giving the viewer a way to fill like they were in the apartment was critical.
- Dan S TurpinJanuary 19, 2025Lynch's masterpiece!
- Gianni CavuotoDecember 21, 2025David Lynch at the hight of his powers? Well yeah, this is a great movie with the kinda bizarre shooting and acting you expect from a Lynch film. I really like the aesthetic of the movie and the whole vibe just grabs me. Stellar performance from Isabella for sure, she was so over the top, it was wonderful to see her be so aggressive in grabbing the character by the scruff of the neck. It took me a really long time to watch this film for the fist time and I'm sorry it did. It will go into my top 1000 movies of all time for sure….to be watched again and again.
