- Dustin Graves3d agoAn awful, boring film that constantly preaches against racism while being one of the most racist, stereotyping films ever. They even invent brand new female characters to retroactively conjure sexist situations within the lore, to then go on to proclaim how bad sexism is. This movie is more interested in manufacturing ways to lecture the audience about very obviously evil behavior instead of just telling a good story. It ends up coming off as a poorly written mash-up of Iron Man and Disney's Encanto. Jaime—and definitely Ted—deserved so much better.

- VarunOctober 19, 2024Simple but entertaining and filled with heart. I’m a fan of Xolo Maridueña in Cobra Kai and I’m glad to see him getting bigger roles. It was great to see George Lopez too, he nailed it with the comedy. I would’ve liked to see some of the fights with Blue Beetle happen during the day, literally all of them happened at night or in a dark setting. The CGI was pretty decent though, there was never a moment that took me out of the film. Although the story leaning more towards the family aspect is great, I also wanted to see some lore on the origins of the scarab and more conversations between it and Jaime. I like how the character was portrayed in the Young Justice show, whereas the movie didn’t fully show me who Blue Beetle is even though they fleshed out Jamie’s character. Overall an enjoyable film and I really hope this version of Blue Beetle makes it over to the new DCU reboot.

- Kevin WardJuly 2, 2025Blue Beetle excels when it focuses on the Reyes family unit, living in their culture and cultural experience. The Latino representation is a refreshing inclusion largely absent from blockbuster filmmaking. Xolo Maridueña makes for a charismatic lead and I hope his star continues to rise. The underlying story, however, is a well-worn superhero origin tale devoid of much originality. There’s plenty of fun to be had, though, and my kids and I certainly did. The pulsating synth score felt like it was pulled straight out of Stranger Things (complimentary). The visual effects and action sequences looked extremely polished compared to some other recent blockbuster films. The humor and overall silliness sometimes really works, and other times it descends into eye-roll inducing fart gags. And unfortunately, I did not care for Susan Sarandon’s profiteering, mustache-twirling villainess. Her character had zero regard for human-life (including her own niece), and isn’t imbued with any complexity of character whatsoever. Negative’s aside, I had an excellent time at the theater and hope it does well at the box office. The representation and cultural inclusion shines well above the conventional superhero origin. And Bruna Marquezine 🔥🔥🔥
- thomasrogers753August 12, 2026While this movie doesn’t exactly do anything that you haven’t seen in a superhero movie before, there’s something so fun about this film I love Xolo in the role of Blue Beetle and I love his family and how much they actually matter to the film and what happens. Whoever decided to cast George Lopez is a genius because he had me laughing a ton in this film I’m so glad to see that Blue Beetle will be back for Man of Tomorrow/Future DCU projects

The lead keeps things lively, the action is flashy without feeling overdone, and the humor actually lands more often than you’d expect. But honestly, the show-stealer is the abuela—there’s this one moment where she goes full Che Guevara, eyes blazing, giving a tiny revolution speech, and you can’t help but cheer. She’s hilarious, fearless, and somehow makes every scene she’s in better. Overall, it’s entertaining, heartfelt, and just a really fun ride—you’ll leave smiling.

FordDecember 28, 2024This was flat out an awesome movie..much like the comic book it was culturally rich...and tastefully poked fun at the things that most wouldn't get to see if not on the inside of the Latino culture...The adaptation was solid...the cast was phenominal....the fx were awesome....the action fluctuated...I personally think it could have been a lot better....a d the inserted comedy seemed organic.....Its an awesome movie for comic book lovers......and kids alike.....Great to show off your sound system and big screens....
- Otacon!February 25, 2026I've watched this movie two times, no more. It's normal for me to re-watch movies because I can't judge a product the as it deserve with a single run. I've never read the DC comic so I can only write my movie thought. First off, CGI and lighting in this movie are ok, interesting and not so aggressive as the original media cover shows us: like a neon style movie. Appreciated. The cast is ok, I didn't sympathized whit any character. The story OF THE MOVIE is.. ok, nothing special. Personally I will not watch it another time, don't think so, because it didn't give anything. I don't feel the desire to know more about the characters that the movie showed me. For me is a 2 stars on 5
