The first time I saw this was back when it came out on VHS, and it brought back alot of memories of being placed in Summer camps since my mom didn't want to deal with us kids for the summer. Though I wasn't in one with Buffalo I was a misfit type with no friends, (70's) This movie shows you what its like for misfits who also love animals and like me think that just killing the buffalo for sport and wasting the meat is one of the stupidest things in life. Hell even Ted Nugent eats all he kills. Some people would say this is a stupid movie and those are the ones who never had to live this life and most likely are the millennials and progressives. Face it this movie is the real life of people before Cell phones and computers. The counselors were alot of time a-hole teens and some adults who did it just for the money. If I could give this movie 10 stars I would. The ending on here hits the hardest at the heart R.I.P. Barry Robins aka Cotton who passed away Apr 1st 1986 of Aids. R.I.P. Darel Glaser aka Goodenow, Passed away Dec 7th 2022 Age 66 R.I.P. Ken Swofford aka Wheaties The A-hole Counselor, Passed away Nov 1st 2018 Age 85

It is flawed, contrived and heavy with symbolism. But its heart is in the right place. It says something, not only about killing dumb animals but about our sense of values.

Stanley Kramer's children tale, which is earnest and obvious in its message, is now best known for its Oscar-nominated tune.
TV Guide
An ensemble piece from start to finish, it's difficult to single out one particular actor for comment.
Chicago Sun-Times
Roger Ebert
Is it in favor of buffalo? Against parents who cause their children to become neurotic? In favor of neurotic kids because they're more sensitive than well-adjusted kids? An argument for gun control?
