I enjoyed the ending as well, could it have been a bit better sure, what movie couldn't. Would I watch it again hmmm that is a tough call but honestly no, did I regret watching it....also no. So watch it once and you decide!
- Patrick Wai-2 d.A fascinating premise that never fully takes flight. The mystery is intriguing, the atmosphere inside the aircraft works well, and the ending delivers a satisfying twist that recontextualizes everything that came before it. Unfortunately, mediocre acting, thin character development, and uneven CGI keep it from reaching the heights it could have. The young actress gives flashes of genuine emotional connection with the protagonist, and those moments are among the film’s strongest. It’s a shame the story doesn’t build on that relationship, because it could have provided the emotional anchor the film desperately needed. Instead of trusting the tension and mystery, it too often rushes toward spectacle. Had it slowed down, let the characters breathe, and embraced the unknown a little longer, this could have been something truly memorable. As it stands, it’s an entertaining throwaway movie with a clever idea, but one that never fully realizes its enormous potential.
- macaronz-4 d.Do yourself a favor and skip Black Box entirely it’s terrible. First off, the poster shows this dramatic red aesthetic, but the actual movie is drenched in cheap blue lighting that looks atrocious. Terrible CGI, and painfully cringe acting. The screenwriting and direction are utterly amateurish, exacerbated by C-grade performances from the main cast. The film’s world feels completely artificial; beyond the four or five plot relevant passengers, the background extras sit like lifeless, robotic props. You know it’s a bad movie when you have to actively search for anything good to say, and the absolute most I can give it is that it manages a tiny bit of basic suspense here and there.
- ricomckee18. juli 2026I hadn't heard about this movie until I downloaded it and watched it. It is a lower budget film however they maximize that budget with great special effects and great creature effects. The movie is definitely worth a watch. It is one point has a good storyline. It does mix some found footage features with traditional movie features. I normally hate found footage films. However, this one got the right balance it actually added to the entire plot of the movie and was definitely worth it.
- Dario Tibay8. juli 2026Worth keeping as a late-night contained sci-fi horror watch, but with some reservations. The initial appeal is obvious: a commercial flight becomes the setting for an alien/supernatural nightmare at altitude. That is a strong premise, and Black Box gets a fair bit of value from it. The cabin and cargo-hold scenes work best when the film leans into claustrophobia, failing lights, strange noises, passenger panic, and the horrible realisation that there is nowhere to go. The cast are a major reason it stays watchable. Tom Brittney gives Jeremy a serious, grounded centre, while Holly White, Boadicea Ricketts and Molly Belle Wright help sell the panic without turning it into pantomime. The creature effects are also better than expected. The practical work has some decent texture, and the CGI tentacles are not as rough as they could have been. The weakness is the larger explanation. The body-snatcher-style invasion angle makes the film feel less interesting once it should be escalating. The idea of infecting humanity one plane at a time feels strangely inefficient, and once that thought arrives, the tension drops. The film might have worked better as one strange, isolated airborne incident rather than the opening move in a broader alien strategy. Rewatch value is moderate. Good for a genre mood, especially if I want a compact aircraft horror with monsters, but not one I would pull down for the mythology or ending.
