Where to Watch Bill & Ted Face the Music
- jackmeatDecember 17, 2024My quick rating - 7,1/10. These two have absolutely no business making a movie with these same characters 30 years later and being this damn good. I know Alex Winter had quite a bit to do with how they turned what really was a wrapped up couple of flix and breathed new life into it. The duo are still on a quest to create that song that unites the world, since we find out that Kiss song at the end of "Bogus Journey" wasn't it. That just made them famous. But since they always did suck as a band, they never went anywhere nor got that song done. So back to it in this very good sequel that took me by surprise. I did NOT expect anything but a few chuckles laughing at my own old age. But they pulled it off with the help of their very likable daughters to aid them. In the off chance the idea takes off again (cult status) the daughters set the framework for more adventures, and often on camera did steal the scenes. Death is back, George Carlin (RIP) gets a digital shout that was respectfully done, and I am fairly sure every shout you wanted from the first 2 are included. Minus the music. Pretty let down in that department, especially the FINAL song. But with some evil Bill and Teds, and some robots, strange things are afoot at the Circle K. The move to VOD should be a nice test bed (1 million in theaters opening weekend). "Mulan" will be the true test. STATION.
- RichardSeptember 29, 2025Watching Bill & Ted Face the Music felt like catching up with two old friends who never lost their goofy charm, even if their hairlines and destinies have changed. It’s not as groundbreaking or quotable as Excellent Adventure, but it’s got heart, humor and a surprising dose of optimism that really hit home. Sure, the plot is a bit chaotic and the final song doesn’t quite live up to the hype. But the movie knows what it is: a love letter to fans and a reminder that sometimes the most excellent thing you can do is just show up and try. It’s not perfect. It’s not as tight or iconic as the first. But it’s sincere, funny and in a world that often feels way too serious, that’s a gift.
- CallumDecember 31, 2024⭐⭐½ – Bill & Ted Face the Music – Most excellent intentions, mixed results. There’s a lot of goodwill built into a Bill & Ted sequel. The original films have such a unique charm that simply seeing these characters again brings an immediate smile. Unfortunately, while Face the Music captures some of that spirit, it never quite reaches the heights of its predecessors. You can absolutely feel what the filmmakers were aiming for. This is clearly a labour of love rather than a cynical cash grab. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter slip back into their roles comfortably, and the film genuinely wants to recapture that optimistic, feel-good energy that made the originals so memorable. The problem is that nostalgia can only carry a film so far. While there are a few fun moments and a handful of jokes that land, much of the movie feels like it's chasing a feeling rather than creating a new one. You remember why you loved Bill & Ted, but you're also constantly reminded that those films belonged to a different era. That doesn't make this bad. In fact, there's something quite sweet about it. The positivity, the friendship, and the underlying message remain intact. It's just that the magic doesn't hit quite as strongly this time around. In the end, it's a pleasant enough watch and a nice reunion with familiar faces. I just couldn't shake the feeling that this might be one of those franchises that was better left untouched, its legacy already secure. 🥤 A reheated cup of your favourite hot chocolate — still comforting, still familiar, but not quite as good as when it was first made.
