Where to Watch Beethoven's 2nd
- Garrett WilkinsAugust 24, 2026Bringing Beethoven back for another round of suburban chaos was always going to be an easy way to win some viewers, and the sequel gets plenty of mileage from that familiarity. Rod Daniel keeps the movie bright and uncomplicated, while Charles Grodin's deadpan frustration remains one of the better parts of the family dynamic. Beethoven's romance and the arrival of his puppies give the movie some charming moments, and I can see why this would have been an easy follow-up for anyone who loved the original. Unfortunately, the sequel mostly takes the formula from the first movie and turns up the volume. The puppy antics are harmless enough, but the story feels more repetitive and the physical comedy wears thin much faster. There is some warmth in watching the family deal with an entire pack of puppies, but the novelty of Beethoven causing chaos has faded. Beethoven's 2nd is an easy enough family watch, but it feels more like a sequel made because everyone wanted more Beethoven than one that had a particularly good reason to exist.
