Barbarian
Directed by Zach CreggerIn town for a job interview, a young woman arrives at her Airbnb rental late at night only to find that the house has been mistakenly double-booked and a strange man is already staying there. Legitimately, had no idea where any of the story was headed at any point. Loved Skarsgård, Campbell and Long as the leads and features some impressive camerawork to boot. Can’t recommend this enough for the horror fans that delight in the unexpected.

While not much happens throughout the film, the indirect ways in which the movie develops its characters is quite enjoyable.

- 匚卂尺ㄥFebruary 27, 2025Barbarian is a masterpiece. It’s one of the most unique horror films I’ve seen in a very long time. I suggest this movie to everyone I know so at this point I give it a good 10/10 and this is why: From its unsettling atmosphere to its jaw-dropping plot twist, the film keeps you on edge, constantly subverting expectations. What makes it so incredible is how it plays with horror tropes and then spirals into something much darker and completely unpredictable. The tension-building is impeccable, with every scene dripping in suspense, making you feel as lost and terrified as the characters. The plot twist? Absolutely mind-blowing!!! Just when you think you have the film figured out, it flips everything on its head in the most shocking and disturbing way. Also, not to mention the cinematography and sound design work together to create the perfect atmosphere. Oh and let’s not forget these actors popped off bringing something unique to the table, especially Justin Long’s character adding an unexpected (and darkly comedic) layer to the horror. It’s rare to find a horror movie that feels this fresh, unpredictable, and genuinely fun to watch. Lastly, Barbarian keeps you thinking, long after it’s over so we definitely NEED a part two on past events PLS UNIVERSE BRING US A PART TWO.
