As Above, So Below Ratings & Reviews
- jasonfin21 day agoA reasonable effort and a reasonable watch. I'm not a particularly fan of found footage movies which I find jarring to watch but this is definitely one of the better ones and if you do enjoy FF, then this will be right up your street.
- Allie Tran29 April 2025How does this have bad reviews? Of the greatest found footage films of all time
- Daniel Gustavsson11 October 2024Really intense movie. Much more so than other movies like this. It's much more interesting as well.
- Nyxus_14 February 2026That was so close to being good
- Paul Walsh3 February 2026A great FF movie deserving of its positive reputation. Spooky and fun!
- Michael DeOliveira21 October 2025This is what an amazing horror Film is to me.
- arkemiffo17 September 2025One of my favourite found footage. There are some hokey elements to it, sure, but they keep a tight connection to The Divine Comedy, and lots of the later parts of the movie are very much a direct result of that. A must-see in the found footage genre.
- BemaniBryan28 August 2025WHY WAS THIS MOVIE SO FREAKEN ICONIC? its whole allure between occult and real life made it so stunning and really great to watch. plus the way its filmed and its cuts were just so well done.
- ADC897420 January 2026Slept on. Underrated horror flick IMO. Remember going to see it in the movies when it came out and it’s still solid on the rewatch.
- Monkey See! Monkey Review!!22 August 2025As Above, So Below promises a thrilling descent but delivers a frustrating and disappointing experience. I found myself waiting for the film to find its footing, but after multiple attempts to engage with the story, I simply gave up. It's a prime example of a great cover and a captivating title that fail to deliver on their promise. A hard pass
- manderso23 November 2025Seen worse. Got incoherent a bit and ending was silly. Interesting premise and story. Shakicam city.
- YoursTrulyYoshi16 June 2025Potential. TLDR; There's definitely something of value in here for those who approach it with curiosity, instead of wanting to watch a disposable sunday flick. You know what? I'm not entirely sure why people say this movie is bad. I'd go as far as to say this is one of the better found footage films. There's much more of a story and it's much more interesting than the average thanks to its mythological/historical/esoteric resources. If anything I'm sad they didn't lean more into those because they really are an excellent basis for an interesting story. Sadly, there are one or two things that play against it, one of them being the not constant but definitely annoying SCREAMING which can go on for too long and could've been used for something more interesting, such as the main character's family dynamic (if you get what I mean). ---SPOILER ZONE--- Similarly, something I found completely unnecessary was the inclusion of the Spooky Guys™, which may or may not even be real given the amount of hallucinations in the movie. Which by the way, can I say they're kinda genius in context? The catacombs turn into a scenario for these characters to face their deep inner fears, and either choose to lose themselves in them, or "rectify" and move on from them (see what I did there?). It's fascinating how much media there is that can be described as "It's about trauma". Also, goddamn, the way Scarlet realized she *is* the philosopher's stone?!?!? I'm sure there's more symbology I didn't get that leads into this resolution. Very likely it'd also be tied to the "trauma" aspect of the story. As a fun thing to point out, the latin american localized title of the movie translates into english as "On earth, as it is in Hell", which at first I thought it was cool and communicated properly the mood of the movie and the english title. After watching the movie, however, I think keeping the original title albeit translated into spanish, "Como es Arriba es Abajo", would've done a much better job as it's a direct quote and concept from the movie. Although I understand it would've affected sales negatively. Would watch again, but I gotta be in the mood for it. Thanks for coming to my TED talk.
- jackmeat27 September 2025My quick rating - 6.5/10. Not sure what @Oklahoma Ward and @Nicole Alonso did to me, but after #CRAWLorDIE it seems movies are all about caves, tunnels, and claustrophobia. Anyway, shameless plug aside, this movie is a very well-done flick that keeps you wondering what's next. It takes a little bit to get going, but after it does, it holds the audience quite well. The acting is as expected, but I found the "interview" like scenes with Perdita Weeks as Scarlett doing a good job pulling you into the story. Yep, there is a story, even if it is far-fetched. It is your hidden underground labyrinth with a hidden item (in this case, a healing stone) that has been buried for centuries in the world's largest tomb. The imagery of crawling around over bones and walking through corridors of skulls, etc., really brings out the atmosphere and makes the "found footage" take some validity for once and not use it as just a gimmick. The scares are there, subtly, but effective. After tons of "found footage" movies getting the idea completely wrong and just using the handi cam this way, finally, another movie gets it right. Giving a feel of other movies, such as Descent and the exceptional Crawl or Die, with the horror and claustrophobic sense seems to be working as of late, and this is another that does it quite well. Definitely, a good watch and such a cool ending to the whole story that drives you to "the only way out is to keep going down." After seeing the end, you will know what I mean. A great finish to a good entry into the genre.
- Danny B11 August 2025As Above, So Below has a unique concept that makes great use of the Paris catacombs, but the execution falls short. A bigger budget and darker, moodier lighting could have done wonders for the atmosphere and set pieces. It’s just not scary enough and takes too long to get going. Once it finally picks up, there are glimpses of the creepy and unsettling movie it could have been, but those moments don’t last long enough.
- profile617 June 2025no Scarlett death L MOVIE. Killing the tour guide was out of pocket dislike this so much
