Americana Ratings & Reviews
- RickAugust 14, 2025The year of Paul Walter Hauser continues. The Ghost Shirt was pretty fly, but I don’t know if it was worth all that trouble. Good movie, with some good moments. Ends up how most stories do when everyone is being greedy ass bitches.
- Splitvision89January 5, 2026The first half of the movie is a bit slow, but boy the second half is incredible. The acting performances in this movie are on another level, everyone is at the top of their game. The title feels very appropriate, the movie felt like a piece Americana.
- Elijah CariñoJanuary 24, 2026Great story, great acting great writing. It’s like a Guy Ritchie and a Quentin T. movie had a baby. Some people won’t like it, some people will love it. I recommend it and you decide for yourself
- MlbKiwiDecember 5, 2025Better than the other ratings suggest. Just watch it for what it is. It’s a great tale
- j22514d agoFun Tarantino-inspired western with another amazing performance by Sydney Sweeney.
- HakihikoFebruary 10, 2026Stylish Ambition That Falls Short "Americana" clearly wears its inspirations on its sleeve. From the structure to the dialogue rhythms and bursts of violence, it feels like a deliberate attempt to channel Tarantino's signature style. While it's not a bad film overall, it never quite reaches the sharpness or depth it seems to aim for. The first half is fairly engaging. The characters are intriguing enough, and the setup creates some curiosity about where the story might go. There's a certain energy in the way scenes unfold, and at times the stylized approach works, especially when the film leans into its darker humor and pulpy tone. However, the second half is where things start to fall apart. The writing becomes noticeably weaker, with developments that feel rushed or poorly structured. The tension that was being built loses momentum, and some narrative choices lack the punch or coherence needed to make them land properly. Performances are decent and help carry the film through its rougher patches, but they can't fully compensate for a script that needed more refinement and originality. In the end, "Americana" is a serviceable imitation - entertaining in moments, but ultimately limited by uneven writing and a disappointing final act. It's watchable, just not particularly memorable.
- LivewireAdminDecember 6, 2025This was meh. The writer did a decent job at running multiple story lines that eventually all connect but I was relatively bored throughout.
- JasonNovember 28, 2025An old west "Pulp Fiction" - a great watch!
- Jonathon PackNovember 15, 2025Take Sydney Sweeney and Paul Walter Hauser out of this completely and it would be a significantly better film. They honestly served absolutely no purpose and brought the momentum of the story to a halt every time the camera cut to them.
- DansDrivesNovember 4, 2025I enjoyed it for its original story and the acting was better than expected as well. It has its funnier moments while still being a serious movie at times. While it won’t make many top lists, it’s still a good movie that’s worth a watch.
- CallumOctober 25, 2025⭐⭐½ (out of 5) Americana – A modern echo of the Old West that never quite finds its aim. “Americana” tries to bottle the spirit of the frontier — a pseudo-Western full of wide plains, faith, and friction — but never quite captures the spark that makes the genre gallop. It’s a strange hybrid of cowboy grit and small-community drama, complete with old-fashioned clothes, religious rigidity, and a classic “cowboys and Indians” showdown — only this time, the bows and arrows meet rifles in a clash that feels more nostalgic than necessary. The story circles familiar themes of belief, belonging, and survival, but its pacing drifts and its tone wavers between authenticity and theatricality. There’s a solid attempt to explore faith-based isolation and cultural tension, yet the film struggles to keep your attention long enough to land its message. The ending offers a bittersweet resolution — a major character’s death counterbalanced by another’s fulfillment — giving a sense of closure, if not satisfaction. Ultimately, Americana is a film with its heart in the right place but its boots stuck in the mud. It looks the part, plays the part, but never quite earns its spurs.
- Rick MastersOctober 20, 2025AMERICANA has moments of quality but oddly feels like its just trying to replicate the coolness of other notable Indie crime films. Simple, inoffensive, fun but forgettable.
- sldghmmrOctober 9, 2025Very clever. The pacing might not be everyone's style.
- Scott SmithOctober 6, 2025Overall, I enjoyed this movie and the story. It's beautifully filmed, has a a good music soundtrack, and is well written. Directing and editing are a bit quirky. Aside from Sweeny, the acting was pretty good too. Sweeny's performance is cringe-worthy as the stuttering waitress who wants to be a country singer, though. I've never been a fan of hers, I think she's an awful actor in most of her roles...and this one is no exception. Halsey's wig was awful, too...but at least her acting was OK. Still, I liked this movie enough to get past Sweeny's cheesy performance. It's a worthwhile watch.
