Bogart plays the straight man to a cast of goofy gangsters--at time maybe a touch TOO goofy for the movie's good. It wants to switch from intense murder scenes to bungling gunmen a bit to often. The main premise works though, and its a lot of fun. The main cast all play their roles excellently--even if the propaganda is a little on the nose. The message gives the film a distinctly pulpy, patriotic feel. This movie won't change your life, but will be a good time!
