Aladdin Ratings & Reviews
- Callum19 December 2025⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Aladdin — A Familiar Wish, Recast with Care Let’s get the obvious comparison out of the way first: Will Smith is not Robin Williams — and that’s completely fine. Trying to imitate Williams would have been a losing battle. Instead, Smith wisely makes the Genie his own, leaning into charm, rhythm, and presence rather than manic improvisation. It’s a different flavour, but one that works far better than many expected. This live-action take does a solid job of reinterpreting the animated classic without draining it of colour or energy. The world feels vibrant, musical numbers land well, and the story still carries that sense of adventure and possibility that made the original so beloved. Naomi Scott is a real standout as Jasmine. She’s given more agency and depth this time around, feeling like a character with her own ambitions rather than just a romantic prize. The added emphasis on her independence works naturally within the story and is one of the remake’s strongest updates. The weak link is Jafar. There are interesting ideas — particularly his background as a former thief — but they’re never pushed far enough. His ambition and menace sometimes come off as a little too exaggerated, which robs the character of the quiet menace that could have made him truly memorable. Overall, Aladdin sits comfortably among Disney’s better live-action remakes. It respects the original, modernises where it makes sense, and avoids the worst pitfalls of feeling soulless or overly cynical. It may not replace the animated version in anyone’s heart, but it earns its place alongside it. 🫖 Pairing: Sweet mint tea — warm, familiar, and comforting, with just enough freshness to make it feel like a new experience rather than a straight reheat.

- Max25 October 2025A great reinterpretation of the classic story. The real standout here is Will Smith — he doesn’t try to copy Robin Williams’ charm, and that’s actually what makes his version so good. He brings his own style and energy to the Genie, and it works perfectly. Naomi Scott also shines as Jasmine, giving the character real depth and independence instead of making her feel like a background figure. The weakest part of the film is definitely Jafar. There were some promising ideas, like his backstory as a former thief, but his greed and ambition are sometimes played a bit too over-the-top, which wastes some potential for a truly great villain. Overall, though, Aladdin is one of Disney’s best live-action remakes — colorful, fun, and full of heart.
- Hakihiko21 June 2025A Colorful Retelling with Charm and Energy "Aladdin" brings the classic Disney tale to life with vibrant visuals, energetic performances, and just enough magic to make it a worthwhile watch. While it doesn't completely capture the enchantment of the original animated film, it manages to stand on its own as an entertaining live-action adaptation. The film’s strongest asset is its visual appeal—colorful sets, elaborate costumes, and big musical numbers give it a lively, theatrical vibe. Will Smith’s take on the Genie is different but charismatic in its own way, adding modern flair without attempting to replicate Robin Williams. Mena Massoud and Naomi Scott also deliver likable performances, with Scott's version of Jasmine given more depth and agency. Some parts of the movie feel rushed or over-polished, and a few moments lack the emotional pull of the original. Still, the music remains catchy, the energy is high, and the updated approach brings something fresh to familiar material. A fun and flashy adventure that honors the original while carving out its own path. Not perfect, but definitely enjoyable.
