Beim Bau des ersten Passagier-Raumschiffes "Mayflower I" wurde geschlampt. Doch das ist kein Problem für die Verantwortlichen: Das Raumschiff geht an den Start. - Callum19. Dezember 2025⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ – Airplane II: The Sequel — Still Ridiculous, Still Rewatchable Airplane II: The Sequel absolutely coasts on the goodwill of the first film — and honestly, I’m fine with that. It may not truly reach the same comedic altitude, and yes, it’s very much a remix rather than a reinvention, but when you know what you’re signing up for, it still delivers exactly what you want: dumb jokes, familiar rhythms, and just enough fresh nonsense to keep you smiling. The biggest knock against it is also its defining feature: the Zucker brothers didn’t write this one, and you can feel it. A lot of the humour is recycled — the structure is basically the same story again, just swapped from a commercial airliner to a space shuttle. But the sci-fi setting gives it room to play with new toys, and the affectionate nods to 2001: A Space Odyssey are genuinely funny, especially if you’ve ever found that film more admirable than exciting. William Shatner is an absolute highlight. His delivery, timing, and sheer Shatner-ness elevate scenes that might otherwise fall flat. Lines like “make them blink in sequence” are exactly the kind of absurd specificity this franchise thrives on. It’s not clever comedy so much as committed comedy — and commitment goes a long way. Is it as sharp as the original? No. Is it as iconic? Also no. Have I watched it an absurd number of times anyway? Absolutely. And I’ll almost certainly watch it an absurd number of times again. This is comfort comedy. Familiar beats, familiar laughs, and a film that knows you’re not here for innovation — you’re here to have a good time. 🥤 Pairing: A refillable soft drink — familiar, fizzy, and something you keep going back to without really thinking about why.
- Richard7. Dezember 2025Watching Airplane II: The Sequel felt like revisiting familiar territory. The jokes, the absurd setups and the parody style were all there, but it didn’t quite hit with the same spark as the first film. It leaned heavily on repeating the formula, which made it entertaining in parts but less surprising overall. The original Airplane! had that fresh, groundbreaking energy, it was wild, inventive and genuinely hilarious in a way that set a new standard for comedy. By comparison, the sequel felt more like a continuation than a reinvention. Still, it delivered enough laughs to keep me watching, even if I couldn’t help but think back to how much sharper and funnier the first one was. In short: Airplane II was enjoyable, but Airplane! remains the classic that truly nailed the humor.
- Manuel Frangis2. Dezember 2025I just watched Airplane II: The Sequel and I give it 3 out of 5 stars. This is one of those movies where you can tell the creators wanted to keep the same goofy spirit as the first one, but it does not always hit the same way. It still has funny moments and a few scenes that made me laugh out loud, but it also feels like it is trying a little too hard to follow the exact formula of the original. You can feel the effort, and sometimes that takes away from the natural flow of the comedy. Even with that, the movie still has charm and a silly energy that makes it enjoyable enough to watch. The cast helps a lot because they fully commit to the ridiculous style of humor. Robert Hays brings the same energy he had in the first movie, and his facial expressions and reactions carry so many scenes. Julie Hagerty also brings that soft and sweet presence that fits perfectly with the goofy tone. There are moments where the two of them really bring the movie back to life. The supporting cast also adds some strong jokes, and even when a gag does not completely land, you can tell everyone is having fun with the absurd world the movie takes place in. The story this time around gets even stranger, moving the action away from airplanes and into a space shuttle setting. The shift gives the movie room to try new jokes and new situations, but it also makes the plot feel a bit more chaotic. Some parts feel rushed, and some jokes come out of nowhere without much setup. There are times when the comedy works just because it is so random, and other times where it feels like the movie is repeating jokes from the first film without the same creativity. It is still entertaining, but you can feel the difference in quality. What I did like is that the movie does not take itself seriously for even one second. It leans into the absurdity. It knows exactly what kind of movie it is. That self awareness gives it personality. Even when a joke is silly or predictable, it still fits the over the top world the movie chooses to live in. It is the kind of humor where you roll your eyes one moment and then laugh the next. By the end of the movie, I felt like it was a fun watch but not something that reaches the level of the first film. It has enough jokes to keep you entertained, and it has a cast that brings energy to every scene, but it does not have the same sharpness or creativity that made the original a classic. Still, it gave me laughs and did not feel like a waste of time. Airplane II: The Sequel is silly, light, chaotic, and enjoyable in its own way. It is not amazing, but it is not bad. It sits right in the middle, which is why my rating is 3 out of 5 stars. If you love this style of humor, it is worth watching at least once. If you want one with more energy or more clever jokes, the first movie is still the one to go back to.
