Where to Watch Agnus Dei
- jasonfin27d agoA decent watch but slow burning! A young girl is dumped in a convent by her mother, literally abandoned. The movie then uses this backdrop to essential critique institutions, Catholic guilt and the erosion of identity through uniforms, routines etc. I'm Catholic but this didn't offend me as I think some of it rang true in the past plus the message is about societal institutions as a whole but just happens to use a Catholic orphanage. It could just have easily been a State run institution, a prison, a mental hospital etc, the themes would still hold true. The slow burn may not be everyone's cup of tea but if you don't mind that, it's a decent watch
