Agnes, the beautiful housekeeper of the sheriff of a small Icelandic county, sees a chance to get herself and her young daughter away from her brutal employer when she falls in love with the local homeopathic doctor. However, when she moves in with him, she discovers another side to him as his lechery makes him several enemies among the townsfolk.
