- RazorbitzFebruary 22, 2025A whelming sequel that has a lot going for it but is ultimately ruined by the worst duo of children to ever grace horror cinema. Rare is it that I sincerely wish for children to die in a movie, but those little freaks are directly responsible for every single atrocity that occurs from the moment they get on their bike and escape the quarantine zone--and yet the film itself never once treats them as anything other than the most important people in the entire universe because they are innocent children who do no wrong. Unfortunately karma never catches up to them, but the rest of the film has some great scenes that almost make up for the horrid plot contrivences that allowed them in the first place.

- rg9400June 24, 2025I jumped straight into this movie after finishing 28 Days Later, and it is a jarring experience. The low-fi cinematography is completely gone, but the soundtrack remains excellent. The plot shifts away from a survival story to more of a military action flick, almost like the shift from Alien to Aliens. There is also an attempt to build more lore, though I wouldn't say it really does all that much. I think this movie starts out incredibly strong. The opening scene is far better than that of the first movie, and the first half is going in some interesting directions that are really focused on family dynamics. However, a little bit before halfway, this movie just shifts into a dumb action movie. There is a ton of shaky camera and lots of dark scenes that make it borderline impossible to follow. I'm not even really sure what the purpose of some of the characters and their arcs were because they are ultimately discarded by the end. I don't think the first movie is a brilliant character drama, but this movie in particular feels like just a cameo fest of famous faces that are fully wasted. The worst part is that I actually think this movie had a lot of potential initially had it tried to just hone in on its central family instead of the military.
- aslamdriver14h ago28 Weeks Later is a solid sequel that delivers exactly what fans would expect, more action, more chaos, and even more intensity. The movie starts strong and doesn’t slow down, keeping you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I didn’t even blink throughout the film! The tension builds well, and the fast-paced storytelling makes it hard to look away. It might not have the same emotional depth as the first movie, but it makes up for it with thrilling scenes and scary moments. Rating: 4/5
- Kristian Odland1d agoKiller score, really solid sequel, with great cinematography and direction. BUT… This movie loses me EVERY SINGLE time I watch when the helicopter shreds the hoard of infected. That one sequence a lone almost completely breaks this movie. So laughably ridiculous. Otherwise fantastic film!
- Scott SmithApril 26, 2025A worthy sequel to the original. A good follow-up to the story, and some good ideas in this one. It's the first movie I can remember seeing Jeremy Renner in, and he is good in it. This one is gorier and sometimes more intense than the original. I'm looking forward to the new movie in this series "28 Years Later".
- Zokkiie3d agoDecent watch, but it loses some of the charm by going full blockbuster. It looks good and moves fast, but feels a bit too polished for its own good. Wish they'd kept it rougher and more grounded.
- Ray Hopkin7d agoThis is such a great follow up to the first movie. The cast is absolutely brilliant and all of them are on top form, Poots, Elba, Byrne, Renner, Carlyle, etc etc, are so good. The story is really interesting, and Carlyle's character arc is very well done, from the opening scene to his scene in the subway, fantastic! There are some amazing set pieces in this, like the one I just mentioned at the start of the movie, and the helicopter scene where he mows down a horde of infected! It's a brilliant sequel that matches the first, I loved it.
- Richard ThorntonJuly 22, 2025Lacking the raw indie feel of the first, It slips into becoming a more standard albeit component entry to the zombie genre.
- i.aszodiJuly 11, 2025Good one
- cultfilmlikerJune 24, 2025American military do be inept like that Possibly the most egregious use of exaggerated sound dynamics in film. There HAS to be some volume levels between “all dialogue is quieter than a whisper” and “every explosion on the telly feels like the windows of my flat are gonna blow out” Couldn’t remember shit about this film but I did remember that it had one hell of an opening and it still holds up! Some terrible decisions made once again but hey at least that sticks with the theme! Yet somehow the worst is the kids!! Pretty decent cast in hindsight! I enjoyed the callbacks to the original as well as the fact Robert Carlyle stars despite Danny Boyle not directing lol Hated some of the direction during the biting action, ngl! People really need to start wiping infected blood from getting near their orifices! Helicopter scene remains badass This movie attempts to be so bleak and gloomy that it became corny tbh. A very dissatisfying ending with an even worse teaser! Glad that idea didn’t come to fruition!
- sharzy720July 8, 2025I liked this movie and would give it 4 stars if it wasn’t for the multiple scenes with flashing lights and quick swapping of the camera, made my head hurt during the big attack in the middle of the movie.
- Van Aerschot DavidJuly 6, 2025This movie was better as the first one.
- giuseppefazzari02July 5, 2025Good movie
- Rowan KrzysiakJune 23, 2025I was expecting far worse to be honest but overall this is mostly gripping throughout. It has a couple of contrivances and stupid character decisions that push the boundaries a bit far but other than that it's pretty entertaining.
