28 Weeks Later Ratings & Reviews
- RazorbitzFebruary 22, 2025A whelming sequel that has a lot going for it but is ultimately ruined by the worst duo of children to ever grace horror cinema. Rare is it that I sincerely wish for children to die in a movie, but those little freaks are directly responsible for every single atrocity that occurs from the moment they get on their bike and escape the quarantine zone--and yet the film itself never once treats them as anything other than the most important people in the entire universe because they are innocent children who do no wrong. Unfortunately karma never catches up to them, but the rest of the film has some great scenes that almost make up for the horrid plot contrivences that allowed them in the first place.
- JakeysDecember 24, 2025Great intro but it falls apart from there. Some really good aspects let down by some really shit ones. Falls far short of the original, but also not a terrible movie.
- Dark ForgottenAugust 10, 2025Stupid characters making stupid choices all the time.
- rg9400June 24, 2025I jumped straight into this movie after finishing 28 Days Later, and it is a jarring experience. The low-fi cinematography is completely gone, but the soundtrack remains excellent. The plot shifts away from a survival story to more of a military action flick, almost like the shift from Alien to Aliens. There is also an attempt to build more lore, though I wouldn't say it really does all that much. I think this movie starts out incredibly strong. The opening scene is far better than that of the first movie, and the first half is going in some interesting directions that are really focused on family dynamics. However, a little bit before halfway, this movie just shifts into a dumb action movie. There is a ton of shaky camera and lots of dark scenes that make it borderline impossible to follow. I'm not even really sure what the purpose of some of the characters and their arcs were because they are ultimately discarded by the end. I don't think the first movie is a brilliant character drama, but this movie in particular feels like just a cameo fest of famous faces that are fully wasted. The worst part is that I actually think this movie had a lot of potential initially had it tried to just hone in on its central family instead of the military.
- Zbigniew CzachorDecember 14, 2025Nothing special...
- The_HolmesDecember 9, 2025Damn. Hardcore. Pretty well done though.
- Scott SmithApril 26, 2025A worthy sequel to the original. A good follow-up to the story, and some good ideas in this one. It's the first movie I can remember seeing Jeremy Renner in, and he is good in it. This one is gorier and sometimes more intense than the original. I'm looking forward to the new movie in this series "28 Years Later".
- SniffinTroutNovember 18, 2025Top 10 greatest zombie flick of all time, 28 years later was pretty good also.
- clunkymugOctober 30, 2025Is this real
- cultfilmlikerJune 24, 2025American military do be inept like that Possibly the most egregious use of exaggerated sound dynamics in film. There HAS to be some volume levels between “all dialogue is quieter than a whisper” and “every explosion on the telly feels like the windows of my flat are gonna blow out” Couldn’t remember shit about this film but I did remember that it had one hell of an opening and it still holds up! Some terrible decisions made once again but hey at least that sticks with the theme! Yet somehow the worst is the kids!! Pretty decent cast in hindsight! I enjoyed the callbacks to the original as well as the fact Robert Carlyle stars despite Danny Boyle not directing lol Hated some of the direction during the biting action, ngl! People really need to start wiping infected blood from getting near their orifices! Helicopter scene remains badass This movie attempts to be so bleak and gloomy that it became corny tbh. A very dissatisfying ending with an even worse teaser! Glad that idea didn’t come to fruition!
- HakihikoSeptember 24, 2025Intense but Uneven "28 Weeks Later" is a gripping horror-thriller that succeeds in delivering high-octane tension and relentless moments of fear. The infected sequences are fast, chaotic, and genuinely frightening, with the film capturing the panic and dread of a world on the edge of collapse. The direction makes excellent use of confined spaces and urban landscapes to heighten the sense of danger, while the sound design and visuals amplify the terror effectively. That said, the story doesn’t quite match the intensity of the action. Some plot threads feel forced or underdeveloped, and certain characters lack sufficient depth, which weakens the emotional impact of their struggles. The pacing is uneven: while the high-tension sequences work brilliantly, quieter moments occasionally drag, making the narrative feel disjointed. Additionally, the film leans on familiar tropes from the zombie genre, which slightly reduces its originality compared to the first installment. Still, "28 Weeks Later" has plenty of memorable moments and impressive visual energy. For fans of adrenaline-driven horror, it’s an entertaining ride, even if it falls short of fully matching the storycraft of its predecessor.
- linda-shearer@sky.comSeptember 7, 2025Gripping right from the start.
- Richard ThorntonJuly 22, 2025Lacking the raw indie feel of the first, It slips into becoming a more standard albeit component entry to the zombie genre.
- Megan CruzJune 30, 2025You know what if Danny Boyle & Alex Garland can pretend this film never happened then so can I
- Rowan KrzysiakJune 23, 2025I was expecting far worse to be honest but overall this is mostly gripping throughout. It has a couple of contrivances and stupid character decisions that push the boundaries a bit far but other than that it's pretty entertaining.
