This is going to be my least favourite Scorsese Movie. I do not have any problem with the direction, the black and white cinematography, the screenplay, the acting, everything is spot on. But something is missing in the entire storyline, at least how it has been put together and visualised, and perhaps that's why it was a box office bomb.
Raging Bull
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre
This is a fine film; I know it explores greed, jealousy, and human nature to an extreme extent, and it lands perfectly on certain notes. However, there are too many coincidences happening in the story that look almost forced; we keep having conflict after conflict. Ignore that, and you have an excellent story.
Structurally brilliant, this is a study in cinema and storytelling. The dream sequence is just magnificent. I bet David Lynch saw this film before making Twin Peaks and Mulholland Drive. Totally awesome.
This is an exceptionally crafted film. I have an issue with the pace, and almost an hour of story building that leads to the main arc. However, it's more about what war does to people than what happened in war, so I'll give a hall pass here.
How many times will Akira Kurosawa tell us he's the GOAT?
Yojimbo
The Housemaid
This is an average film. I hate the fact that Michele Morrone is doing a small role here; the bro looked hotter than the main character. Amanda'a acting is good, but the story is predictable, way too predictable.
There is a reason Brando is known as the greatest actor of all time; it is perhaps these tiny things that changed cinema acting forever. To good to be true.
On the Waterfront
Once Upon a Time in America
Watched this film in 2 days, and still loved it. Fantastic! The entire film unfolds like an old diary, everything is so visceral and mesmerising that you can't ignore the beauty.
