Veronika Vasnetsova is a mother of many children and a police major who returns to service after a ten-year break. Thanks to her ex-husband's connections, Veronika ends up in the Kaliningrad investigative department, where she will have to lead a group to combat especially serious crimes, despite the machinations of her superiors, the suspicion of her colleagues, problems with her children and troubles in her personal life.
